Starting a few weeks ago, McDonalds decided to go beyond the 'I'm lovin' It' campaign into something much more serious: 'I'm loving it so much that I hate you for wanting it.' Do you know what I'm talking about? It's those ads, the one with the hyper lady, the skinny Italian kid, or any of the commercials where people are eating the chicken selects and tell people stuff like 'No,' 'Don't touch my chicken!' and 'Don't even look at my chicken.'
It's like McDonalds tries to hard to be funny, like a clown. You know, no really thinks clowns are funny, but they laugh at them out of pity and compassion. That's the kind of funny McDonalds had in its commercials.
Basically, if you haven't seen the commercials, this is what happens in them:
So some innocent person says 'Hey, I like fried chicken, ooo, there's some,' and looks at the chicken. Then, some McDonald fanatic comes over to them and insults them or denies them a piece of chicken. What message are they trying to send? If you like food, be selfish, be a jerk, and most of all, DON'T SHARE IT! C'mon.
My biggest fear of all of this is that someone else will follow in the 'I love this so much I'm a jerk' commercial trend, something like this:
But what do I know, I mean, this is the biggest fast food chain on the planet, and I mean, they've brought us such good...decent...uh...regular fast food and lovely restaurants. Oh yes! And who could forget this gem!
GOOD JOB MCDONALDS!
