people aren't literally thinking jesus for physically putting food on their tables, they're just showing appreciation for being blessed with privilege. it's not a bad thing to be thankful that you have a warm house, loving family, and delicious, filling meals that allow you to remain healthy. in fact, i'd say one of the major problems in today's society is that people take everything for granted and don't show any gratitude for what they have. if people took a moment to just silently pay a little respect to the things that they have in their life, i'm sure the world would be a better, more compassionate place.

And you are wrong in thinking its a mockery of religion. Its a message to the people who don't realize/don't care where their food comes from.




Families cross their arms and fold their hand to thank the lord for all that he has given. Why not thank your fellow man? For he is the one who is actually giving.

he's not really giving. fuck if he cares. he's doing what he has to do so he gets paid. don't act like he's cultivating land or picking crops out of the kindness of his heart.

plus, i'd say being thankful is pretty all-encompassing. people sit down and appreciate what they have in general, not who it was given to them by.

You're saying all people who pray before dinner just say thanks to someone in general? Like "hey thank you world for this food"?  Bullshit. Many people who do this literally sit down and explicitely thank god/jesus for providing them with their food which is far and away the last thing that provided them the food they are eating.
