Replying to MSU Bozeman - help me with my letter of application (I'm a transfer student)

So,

next year I want to go to MSU in Bozeman (for the skiing of course, but that shouldn't be the main motivation in my letter, d'uh) and would like some tips or inside info as to why I should go there and why they should let me in. Are there any studies in particular that MSU is renowned for or anything other than that which makes MSU such a good uni?

And if anyone goes there, what about the university of Calgary? I don't know anything about it, but what's it like? Good skiing nearby? How's the town, uni and people in general?
