Hey,
I'm making new business cards. I always go to moo.com - they turn out great and are a very good weight.

I get a pack of 50, and I'm selecting 5 designs - so please pick out 5.

I don't get it how these picture can be your Business cards. they look more like playing cards to me. Not really professional in my opinion.

The rest don't fit. I'd find one more photo. I wouldn't even consider the absolut shots.

The only one I'd consider would be number 5. I would never use a business card that has a picture of absolut vodka on it.. unless you're in the liquor business, that just doesn't look right. avoid any logos

First, get rid of all of them that are "product shots" unless that was professional work that was purchased by absolut / goodyear etc. you don't want to have to explain to anyone that it was just personal work and you were never actually employed by those people.

I don't know what number 9 is, I would axe that one.

that leaves you with 5 - 1, 4, 5, 8, 11

Also, register a domain and get a "Evan at evanbutkaphotography.com" email address, if you're really looking for work, people will take you much more seriously.

I agree and disagree.

I did most of these for my thesis in school. This is the type of work I would like to do. So why not display that on my cards?

Because it's phony. If you want to do commercial product photography, pretending like you do the work already makes you look unprofessional.

I'm a graphic artist. If I had a bunch of tear sheets of ads and screen grabs of work all over my website with big corporate logos on them, it would appear like I'm not confident enough in my own work or my clients to display the work I do for them. It would also look really terrible when someone says "Oh, wow, all that work you did for verizon was cool. I've never seen that ad / site / commercial before". How are you going to explain that?

If I was considering hiring a photographer for a job that I was working on, and in looking through his/her website I noticed something like that, I would probably ask them about it. If they said "well, I didn't actually shoot those photos FOR brand X", that would likely be the end of the discussions for me.

If you want to shoot product photography, and that's what you want to display, then shoot photos without logos. Peel that label off and light the glass in a cool way, or display it with a colored liquid inside.

Yeah, I don't know if I would put a picture on the card. That's just my personal opinion. I tend to discredit cards that have self pictures on them. Textual/Graphical cards look more professional.

But, that's me.

I feel like business cards are best when they feature good typography and a modest logo; so my two cents would be to go with a simple logo that means something to you, and a font that isn't very complex. If I had to choose from any of those, I like 9-11.
