wtf newschool telemarking?

I saw some pictures yesteday in some magizine and since when are telemarkers sliding rainbow rails and hitting 60 footers? not really sure why anyone would want to have their heels unattached from their bindings just buy a real pair of skis.

i just think it's inefficient. i give mad props to tele guys who throw down in the park, but if you're only gonna ride park, teleing is just handicapping yourself. but whatever floats your boat

dude, obviously skiing alpine was to easy for em. they needed a chalenge. all you cool little alpiners skiin and doin your tricks is cool and such(at least your skiing) but damn, why rag on telemarkers. seriously, could you do those tricks on tele skis much less alpine. think before you shout out dumbass. were comin to school you up.

I tryed tele for a while, it's so much harder. Props to the guys who can do it, but for the while, I kinda like my heels in.

Explaining why you would want to tele is like explaining why you ski instead of snowboard. I tele and the reason why anyone would want to do so can only be explained through an experience.

For those that think tele skiers in the park have gay style. It's true. The majority of the people that are attracted to tele (even the guys you see in the park) have a different outlook on skiing. As someone said before, people tend to like tele gear for its BC ease. These same people usually don't ski with an aggressive style. Frankly, if you aren't skiing tele aggressively it's going to look gay - I don't care what anyone says. These are probably the type of skiers that you guys have seen at the resort and in the park, hence the super gayness image. BUT there are a few tele skiers out there who are aggressive riders and have an awesome style (both in and out of park). When you see these skiers you're eyes will open to what tele skiing is all about.

there's this one guy at our mountain who telemarks. and i have SO much respect for him, because he tries EVERYTHING, and falls like every time. but he always gets up and does it again. its a very hard thing to do.

hmmmmm. Seems to me that most of what has been said so far seems correct. Lets start with the gap in between the ski and boots. To fix this problem is very easy, bombertele.com. Second rails in general are fairly easy. Don't get me wrong but how many people out there can ride up to a rail and turn their skis side ways. I've seen kids who stomp rails on their first try, EVER. Common easy. Which next brings me to jumps. So, uhhhh, when I see most regular skiers land a cork 9 they touch down begining with their tips. Try that on tele's and get back to me. And finally for who ever said bring tele's into the park is gay. Wasn't sometime in the not to distant past, snowboarders gave skiers the same name. I don't know. I guess what it boils down to is... yes you all suck... unless you can land a cab 9 tail grab on a snowboard, a switch bio 1080 rocket air on skis, and a switch double lincoln 7 on teles, and a double kickflip to boardslid 540 flip out on a snowdeck, you have no room to talk. Pick a device and slide. Peace

I wanna get a pair of Teles. It'd be cool to try something different plus i think it would really benefit my downhill skiing. Tele skiing is sweet, and it opens up even more trick combinations... think about what would happen if you tweaked a nose grab...

if tele skiers arent all that good aparently, how did a tele skier come to east coast open and beat over half the field of "i have a heel" skiers in both slopestyle and rail jam, throwing switch on and 270 outve rails, 270 ons, and cork tricks throughout the entire course

basically, the talent level is there for some of them, and after east coast open and watching Josh Madsen ski for the 2nd time this season, my hats off to him, he kills it

The best skier I know personally is Decker Jory, and he is a telemarker. Crazy style in the park, kills the backcountry. Back to back flairs in the pipe. He is better than you. Unless you're better than the best telemarkers out there, you have nothing. let it go, and give them props for doing their own thing and killing it.

ppl keep asking "why tele unless you can throw every trick on alpines?" but thats really retarded, everyone has their own preference and i prefer the feeling of teleing, and i think switch landings feel alot better. to people who think its weird to do something harder just for the heck of it, its like why switch up on rails unless you can grease it 100% of the time, and slide a quad kink urban, its just more fun and im really rambling.

I AM 16 AND SKI IN THE BIG COMPS WITH MAX MANCCIN AND LORENZO, YEA THEY ARE SICK. TELEMARKING IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL SEE MORE AND MORE IN THE PARK. I HAVE WON COMPS ON MY TELLYS. ha, you guys are so funny. you know nothing about tele. like twintipteles said earlier, alot of us prefer the feeling of tele turns to alpine. sure its more work, but its a hell of alot more fun.
also switch landings are sometimes easier than alpine. all you do is a backwards tele stance and your golden.
you guys make it out to be like really wierd and shit. its not. its the sickest feeling ever.
and for you who say its not progressive....you guys must have your head up your ass or ride the bunny hill. Ben Dolenc is pulling steeps as good as morrison and jumps as well as like half the pros in the world. the Hippy Stinx and the Piste Pipe were made for him. Hippy Stinx is the seth pistol, which i remind you was made for morrison, sooooo if you do the math, Ben is ripping as hard as Morrison.
maybe soon, youll pull your head out of your ass and realize that your getting schooled by a tele skier. and next time, dont rag on tele skiers. bitch.

Basicly teleing i fucking sick. That shit is hard. The only hting more hardcore is going up to the mountain with cross-country skis on and hitting hte jumps. I hit a jump with x-country skis and broke my poles along with landing 270 and twisting my knees. But i might just take it up. CROSS CREW FAM!!!!!!

yeah i really want to try telemark, ive seen a couple guys who were realy good. and its sooo cool how you can tuck by putting your knees on the front of the skis and crouch down.

I saw a guy at keystone throwing rodeo 9s over the pro set and i looked at his skis and he was riding teles. i also ski with a kid who can pull off teles in the park
