Race Skis

Hey dudes, i'm pretty new to the site, does anybody know a good pair of race skis that i could use that are also pretty good for shredding the pow?

Also a video on ski tuning would be appreciated.

Race skis will never. ever. ever. ever. ever. ever. work for shredding pow. Theyre too small underfoot, too heavy with race plates, and if youre even considering skiing glades with them, dont. Youll save yourself hours of tuning after hitting rocks and stumps.

That being said, it would help knowing what experience you have with racing, weight, height, etc.

And tuning, use google my friend. Or find a friend who knows what theyre talking about when it comes to tuning.

Im 100% sure anyone who has ever raced will agree with my statement above. Race skis dont work well with powder. They are the worst choice you could make with modern ski equipement.

i'd look more into getting a stiff regular cambered pow ski that can double for charging....

i have a pair of 108mm waist scott p4s that are quite stiff and long and ski like a super g ski on groomers, just a bit slower edge to edge.

If you're a real racer and actually do slalom or super g or something i suggest you invest in a dedicated race ski and a dedicated pow ski ....

if you know people in the race scene you could easily snag a pair of last years worldcup skis for cheap....
(i myself ski fischer RC4 WC skis when teaching, skier x or on groomer days, they cost me 75euro and are awesome:D )

do they work: yes, any ski will work
are they ideal: no

i skied pow on race skis for years, hell people skied pow on 65 under foot straight skis for decades and never complained about it once. If you can't ride any ski in pow, you should probably learn to ski better

Of course they work. I noted that above. But as I said they are far from ideal. Up until last year I skied my trainer sl skis during pow days. It wasnt great, but it did the job.

I am not complaining either. I mean I complain about hitting rocks but thats a different story. But stay away from race skis if you want a ski that handles powder well. Look into the Volkl Mantra for a "race-like" ski with powder performance. Or a Kastle ski if you have the cash.
