It's not the system itself, it's the people the system puts in place. I like how you talk about this piece of paper as if it's some sacrosanct text too. Lets face it, ol' baracky has shown it about as much consideration and effort as he has to global grand policy. You summed it up nicely, its a piece of paper.

That's not what im getting at. Again, not directing it at individuals, but more at your country as a whole. American culture is very extreme. Everything's so shiny and enticing, it's either go big or go home. I cant think of one facet of america that isn't very loud or over the top. This applies to politics too. Sure, every country has their political extremists, but with the amount of power being offered/thrown around, americans are on another level. Ill say it again, for someone like Santorum to be put in a position where the most powerful role in the world is at his fingertips, it says a lot about your country. America churns out these nutjobs who are in no fit mindset to be the leader of any country for that matter, and to you all who are surrounded by similar, like-minded people constantly, they seem normal. They aren't.

I would say that the year of intense election debates, and millions of voters qualifies the presidency as being a little further away than 'his finger tips' from Santorum.

I would also rather my country be ruled by a piece of paper than a man. It only takes a glance at the executive summary of The Prince, to understand the values in that.

I'd rather be loud rich and free, than quite, hungry and down trodden.

You all can say what you want, but America's military, and aggressive international politics allows the rest of the western world to spend more on butter.
