We are having an absolutely epic snow year. Looks like we are on track to break some snowfall records. If you have any interest in coming out to Japan and having an awesome trip PM me or go to www.bdlodge.com cheers guys!
www.snowjapan.com has good daily reports and avalanche info for Niseko. Snow-forecast is ok but really under reports the snow quantities, good for general weather, temp and wind though. The Japan Meteorological Agency also has a report for Kutchan, which is the closest town to Niseko.
I'm thinking of coming out to Japan in 2 weeks (yep very last minute) for a month. I'm just wondering whether it is worth having my skis shipped over or whether it's cheaper to buy them over there.
How much would a pair of big rockered skis (175- for a girl) cost?
Also, where would be a good place to stay? Has anyone ever stayed at the Harifu backpackers?
I just got home today. Stayed at Shizenkan Backpackers. Basic accommodation but good for the money. Hiring skis might be a good option. I know you can get very good equipment there but not too sure on the prices. I took my own skis.
