Holy shit no. Sarah is such an inspiration; she's park skiing's queen, hands down. I really don't like how all that I can find out is that it is a "serious injury", that she's in a coma, and required a breathing tube. So many vibes headed out that way.

I hope she pulls out of this ok. There is no question she has done a ton for this sport. This really speaks to how dangerous skiing is becoming. Even though it was only a flat 5...it doesn't matter I think a lot of pros need to take a step back and ask is it really worth it?

Sarah is an OG, I'd hate to see her skiing career come to an end. Is the progression of the sport really worth the next 70-80 years of your life?

I met Sarah a bunch of times when I was a young shredder up at SMS camp in Whistler. Despite the fact that we were quite the obnoxious 12 year olds and no doubt presented ourselves as a major pain the ass, she was very nice to us and was always down to bring a group to the lake. She didn't have to do that, she could've brushed us off for the tards we were, but she's genuinely a great person, not to mention an icon in our sport.

Positive vibes to Sarah and her family. This is tragic and I really hope she comes out alright.

Not good. :( I remeber at momentum three years ago she was my coach and she was so chill. When we were downloading she came with us on the peak to peak. I hope she pulls through. +vibes

Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke remained in critical condition at Salt Lake City’s University Hospital Wednesday, the day after she suffered head injuries from a crash during a superpipe training run in Park City.

At the family’s request, hospital spokesman Phil Sahm could not release further details on Burke’s condition Wednesday morning except to confirm she was still at the hospital and still alive.

The skier’s publicist, Nicole Wool, said in an e-mail that Burke is "sedated and being monitored,"

well sedated normally means a medically induced sleep (such as what they put you in for surgery) so this could be taken as good news...

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke was transported by AirMed helicopter to University of Utah Hospital from Park City Mountain Resort after sustaining serious injuries during training. She is currently listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Neuro Critical Care Unit.

“Sarah sustained serious injuries and remains intubated and sedated in critical condition,” according to Safdar Ansari, M.D., a neurointensivist with University of Utah Health Care.

Sarah’s husband Rory Bushfield and her family are by her bedside and wish to express their sincere thanks to everyone, all over the world, for their heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. “Sarah is a very strong young woman and she will most certainly fight to recover,” said Rory.

Sarah’s family has asked that fans and media respect their privacy during this difficult time. Sarah’s friends and fans are encouraged to post their well wishes on Sarah’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sarah-Burke.
