How can I save trimmed clips in the best quality?(AE)
Well when I take clips and I trim them using after effects to get them down from like 10 minutes to 5 seconds and then I edit them, how can I then save it as a lossless file (if possible) so I can then put all those clips together once they're all shortened?
what program are you editing in? almost every video editing software ever made has a trim function where it wouldn't really be necessary to use a different software to trim clips. unless im understanding this wrong?
well what I'm wanting to do is trim it and then export it, so i don't have to trail through tons of clips before i choose what I'm going to use, and after effects cs5.5
why dont you have one composition with all your footage (ie raw footy) and one comp with all the shots you actually want to use? premiere would also make your life a lot easier, after effects isnt the greatest for actually compiling and cutting footage.
oh i see. well what i normally do (i have fcp but i think premeire is very similar in this) if i have long clips is just watch the clip through the previewer then set my in and out points of the spot that i actually want to use before i drag it into the timeline. that way everything stays in the same format. anyway hope that helps a bit
oh ok. well you could also use mpeg streamclip if you wanted to export footage with the right settings for editing. thats what i use for all my gopro clips and it works well to read all sorts of file types and exports in whatever type of file you need as well. and its a free program
yeah you can pick the quality when you export. just set the codec of the timeline you want to edit in, set the quality to 100% and leave the rest alone. works like a champ for me
