going skiing for the first time of the season today, my home mountain is still not open so we're driving 2 hours to the only other open one! god damn i'm stoked! anyone else get up the mountain for the first time this late in the season?
I'm in the same boat as you....being away Christmas break somewhere warm killed all my skiing days so far. Plus shitty conditions on the east coast meant December was utterly useless!
But have fun! I'm going to be giddy next Saturday when I finally get to ski
My first day was yesterday. Seriously....January 7th as my first day? Local hill with manmade snow, spring conditions and a few trails. It was fine in the morning, but by afternoon it was like playing dodgeball and I called it quits.
my local hill opened this week with like a trail and a half (they now have like 18), lower east coast (New York, Jersey and PA) all have shit weather right now.
So crazy that no place has been getting snow. I have been skiing for well over a month now but its pretty bare in some spots. Received 1.5in last night tho. Not much but it helps!
My hill opened on saturday, almost 2 months later than normal...
It was such a pain having to work the weekend, but tomorrow is gonna be the first day there! And i've got 10 random snowdays under my belt, a few of em just hiking a sketchy rail and like half of em in an actual park with more than one rail in it
I skied chest deep pow about two months ago now and just spent a week in Whistler skiing park so I'm pretty fortunate. But sadly my hill will most likely not open this year. Pretty bummed
