I spend more time on the chairlift than i do on my skis.

Truth. I only ski grouse mountain (i know i know) because it's literally up the hill from where I live. The runs at grouse are so short that I'm done them in less time than it takes me to actually ride the ski lift (which runs mind numbingly slow). From the peak all the way to the bottom takes me only 4-5 minutes, the chairlift takes about 5-7 minutes to get up to the peak and that's if there is no line up (hardly ever except at night).

So yeah, skiing is a little boring right now unless I'm in the park hiking back up to continuously hit a rail/booter.

Are you fucking kidding me? I have a lift at my mountain that takes 10 minutes on average and I can get down in well under three minutes- top to bottom. Some fucking people...

Same here at Mt. Washington, the orange takes 10 minutes and I take the longest route down which is like 4 minutes or so when I'm bombing down.

Don't think your looking at it the right way dude.

I'd happily sit on a lift for 30 mins for a few minutes on my ski's. Its never boring!

Thought about skiing slower if your concerned on how much time your actually skiing?

uh that's pretty normal. unless you ski slower than a chairlift runs, you are obviously going to spend more time on the lift than actually skiing. At least you are not hiking up, then you would spend almost all of your time not skiing

Stop complaining.. Grouse is pretty big.
My ex home "mountain" took about 7 minutes to go up, and 10 seconds to go down while bombing.

you have it good. my lift takes 7 minutes and the verticle of our hill is 400ft. it takes a minute tops to ski down. /end rant

Talma has it pretty well, one minute to go up, maybe 20 seconds to go down if you only hit jumps. You get so many runs and repetition in a day, no cold in-between time, really.

i have to drive 8 hours to a real mountain + lift
when i say i go skiing i'm actually going to drive a car, sit on lifts, sit in restaurant and occasionally i ski as well...

stop bitching, at least you have an actual mountain, i ski at mslm, the lift takes maybe 5 minutes and ur run is over in 2 minutes tops. be thankful that you get to ski grouse mountain and live in bc.

do that and shutup. here i have to w8 30min to get in the chairlift and around 10-12 min to reach the top of the mountain. just hike some rail and jumps like every1 do.

My closest hill has one char lift. It takes 7 minutes to get up, and usually about 30 seconds to 2 minutes to get down (if you take your sweet ass time it takes 2 minutes) the hill has a vertical of 82 meters......

Consider yourself lucky man. I have to drive 10 hours to take a 25 minute lift ride all for only 24 feet of vertical, and there's no snow and when you get to the bottom you have to perform a 1-2 minute routine of calisthenics and aerobics to show your level of fitness is up to par, as is mandated by the Canadian On Snow Health Act of 1997, or else they won't let you ride the lift again.

OP is very fortunate! My local mountain that is 2.5 hours away from me takes me anywhere from 7-10 minutes to get up and less than a minute to get down. That's what happens when you live in Delaware and your a ski fanatic! You work with what you got and you appreciate things like what you are working with.. I would love to be in your shoes! Wanna trade ski areas? You can have my 700ft of vert. and I'll take your 4-6k ft. vert... Damn, some people. Every forum has the haters and we are all hating you because your bitching about how you get to ski almost as much as you have to ride the lift.

not complaining, because I love my hill/chairs. But we have a very long, and at times very slow chairlift. When the wind is going and they slow it down I've timed it at 28min before. Don't think I've heard of anyone breaking the 30min mark (other than times where it breaks down, at that point - all bets are off). At full speed it takes 17min to ride the chair.

If you give 'er, you can make it back down in 2min. I made it down in 1min 54sec once... bragging rights for sure.

you joking? if you're doing laps off the top into North/Greely Bowl the lap time is retarded. Sure, you're on skis, but it's just crappy ski outs and traverses, not ideal.

chair lift up, boot pack up from there, drop in for a sick run, to long mogul filled gully ski out to chair lift ride to long traverse back to the original chair. I'd say the lap time at Revy is the only downfall of the place.
