Greetings NS. I'm just arriving home after a run in with our old friend the police.

I got pulled over for apparently rolling through a stop sign (bullshit) and ended up getting my car searched, resulting in the discovery of my bowl and a fresh quarter ounce i purchased just earlier.

I'm just interested to see if anybody has been in any similar situations so i can get an idea of what to expect.  I live in Pennsylvania by the way and I'm going to the station to get fingerprinted tomorrow at 3.

I got pulled over for suspected DUI because I was "A little close to the car ahead of you and you were driving 70 in the 65"

And he turned the spotlight on me so I couldn't see shit as I was pulling over. Fuck cops

I think the OP enhanced the truth a little about what actually happened, so the cop probably had reason to search him, and considering he was in possesion, i think the police officer made a good call.

You had bud on you, that's illegal. (it fucking shouldn't be though)

You may or may not have rolled the stop sign but unless your car like cocks back after the stop (you know what i mean) they can pull you over for a rolled stop sign.

What does suck cock and gargles balls for you is that you're in pennsylvania which i know has wild paraphanelia laws and I'm assuming some ridiculous marijuana laws. So yeah it sounds like you're in a crap position.

The probable cause was that he smelled weed first off, most likely because i had just smoked about a half hour before (obviously my fault i realize that.) Honestly to everyone negatively posting, i didn't make this thread to bash cops i'm just wondering what kind of repercussions i might be looking at.

oh and if you have more than half an ounce but less than four you could face up to a year in jail and a 1000 dollar fine.

i got caught with 6 ounces in my car in colorado. I showed him my edibles med card and he was like oh sorry about it make sure you get your tags changed they expire in two months. Thank jah officer have a good night with the kids and wife!

learn your rights, only break 1 law at a time (obey all driving laws while in possession), and don't blaze fat before you drive with that much nug in the car (or ever for that matter). don't blame the cops, most of them are doing their job dutifully, the others are power-tripping roided-out assholes.

Doesn't always apply to vehicle searches. Basically if you do ANYTHING borderline against the law (such as running a stop sign) the cop's search would hold in court.

Yeah... i mean you can't really say that the cop did anything wrong.

"probable cause"

Its hard to say exactly what that means... which is why it is so often disputed. But my view of it is If the cop had 'probable cause' to think that you were committing a crime, (smell of bud maybe) then thats a justified search.

On a separate but related note... my government and politics class just studied a bunch of cases about kids getting caught or searched at schools. We did skits. It was pretty funny. I got to bring in a pack of cigs for my skit and some other kid had a case where a kid was holding up a huge sign at a school assembly that said 'bong hits 4 jesus'

An edibles card allows you to have 12 plants growing in your private residence 6 blooming 6 vegging
and up to 12 ounces of flower on your person.
a normal mmj card allows 2 ounces on you at a time.
You can get more grades of licenses like a caregiver's would include being able to sell to stores and you can have like 64+ plants. and a certain amount of pounds on you for lets say you're transporting nugs from your grow to the store.

last time i checked he has no right to search your car unless you let him (not sure specific to where you live) you should have just said you dont consent to any searches?

you looked suspicious, you rolled the the stop sign(everybody does at least a little bit), and the cop proceeded to do his job, and you ended sup suffereing the consequences of something that you fully knew was legal. you now have to pay your fine, or stay on probation for a few months and then get it wiped from your record at 18. all job apps ask you to omit any MJ related misdemeanors anyways, so no one will know.

Shitty day? absolutely.

You most likely werent doing anything wrong to alert the cops to you...other than looking a young person up to no good.


But hey, thats the risk we take when we do illegal things. hate the law, not the dude who is paid to enforce it, along with many other laws that are actually hepful.


There are many, many moments in life were things could go very, very wrong, and thankfully very few of us had had it go the wrong way.

#1, the cop smelled marijuana, therefore he had every right in the world to search you and your car.

probable cause. And in many states they can actually search without probable cause or without your consent, but only within your reach within the car. And that's to ensure their own safety. In other words, they won't just randomly do it, you need to appear as a threat for them to do it. (IE don't sit there with your hand under your seat or behind it looking like you're holding a gun.)


As for this thread...cop was in the right. Unfortunately a rolling stop is enough reason to pull you over, and the actions of the occupants and the smell were enough to warrant a search.

I don't know the exact laws, but you'll probably get hit with a fine or probation at most.

U guys do know that u can refuse a search right? Its called the forth amendment. In very limited circumstances will they bring in a drug dog so as long as you play it off as you have personal shit that you don't want anyone to c u should b straight.
