Stabilisation

Looking to get some sort of stabiliser for my t3i.

Eventually I’ll get a Glidecam, probably the HD-1000. For now though, does anyone use a cheaper alternative than a Glidecam that provides a decent amount of stabilisation?

seriously get a glidecam. the result will be way better and worth every penny imo.

i made something like that from home depot for under $10.. it works alright, i would reccomend making a shoulder rig out of pvc.. works well and only costs about $15. theres a diy thread on here somewhere with tons of useful information.

A top handle only makes it easier to hold; it doesn't stabilize. A cheap shoulder brace will be far more effective than a top handle because it adds another point of stability.

I thought it might stable it a bit since it would be easier to hold, if you get me? I think i’ll probably just wait and see, probably go for the glidecam straight off.

If i was using a t3i with battery grip, would that still be within the HD1000s range or would the HD2000 be better? I know you can add more weight onto the HD2000 to balance it out and I guess it would be good to have that room for expansion if i got a mic or a bigger camera down the line?

I use it with my T3i, and IMO, it works incredibly well for an easy $40 build. I'd embed, but I can't get the embed code while at school.

Shooting a video camera from the top handle isn't stable, and neither is this. It may be easier to hold, which in turn will make it easier for you to hold it more steady, but the handle itself doesn't stabilize.

Honestly, you can make one for dirt cheap if you really want such a device. Save your money for an actual stabilizer.

Yeh i didn’t word that too well. Think i might give the homemade one a shot and buy a glidecam in a couple months.
