Bodging an FKS heel piece?

Hi,

Having pretty shit DIY skills, i thought someone may be able to offer some advice on the best way to fix my FKS before i give it a go myself, and probably make things worse.

The problem is pretty simple, the fix may be not - the soft plastic piece that the heel steps onto has come off. It is originally attached with molded plastic 'rivets', and i've pushed them back through once, but this only worked for about 5 minutes.

So i was thinking of drill three small holes through the plastic, using metal rivets to reattach it, and then filing down the underside so that it fits nicely - thoughts?

probably a pretty bad idea.

when you file down a metal rivet it loses most of its strength.

If you yourself can admit that your shop skills are sub par, you probably shouldn't be working on something that is dealing with the integrity of your knees.

Does the heel of your boot rest on the plastic piece? If not I dont think it matters too much. My shop guy mounted mine and that piece would pop up and over the white clip on the healpiece. He told me I was straight, and they hold tight and eject fine.  As long as you leave the bottom of that piece flush all the way across so that it can still rotate I'd say ur good. I have a few pair that are pretty shot and they still hold me in just fine (Ejecting when necessary). Hope that helps.
