copper mtn

ok so im going on a trip with some friends to copper this winter on my break. i wanted to know what the best part of the mtn. is to do b/c we dont have too many days to ski there and i want to get the full experience. we all live in NJ so dont ski that much pow and big mtn but i love it and want to experience that aspect of skiing out west

there's lots of good trees between timberline and american flyer, and the enchanted forest are is pretty sick if it's open

In a few days you can probably check out all the bowls/runs pretty well(Spaulding and Union are usually good). I'd reccommend checking out the catalyst park as well as the rail yard under eagle. Copper has a really sick park and worth checking out if your going to be at copper a few days.

go to more than just copper...vails right around there and breck...but I skied copper and there park was dope

no its like a prepay trip through my friends school, and so we get 4 days at copper then possibly 1 at vail. but not sure about the day at vail

screw vail - ride copper... hit some sweet park features, then, if the snow is good go down to A-basin and ride some sweet steeps, bumps, and chutes...
Why mess with the bullshit at the base of Vail when you don't have to

Those maps are out of date. I grew up skiing at Copper. The park is on the run called Loverly where the G lift used to be. Spaulding bowl has the best steeps. If you are into the bumps, the Resolution Bowl and stuff around the A lift are best. The stuff off of S lift is good too. Only go into the Copper Bowl during or after a dump. You can still find powder stashes in Upper/Lower Enchanted Forest and Union Meadows several days after a storm. There is a kick ass natural jump at the base of the Union Bowl called the Onion Roll. If you are willing to hike, Tucker has some nice lines. The trick to avoiding crowds is to stay away from the base of the Eagle and the Flyer. If you are into ducking ropes I can tell you where the good BC stuff is. If you are also going to Vail, I can tell you more about it, I know that mountain really well too.

The Onion Roll is about half way down the right side of the picture. You can see the indent in the mountain. It has a really nice landing. It kicks you pretty hard. You can get massive air if you hit it right. The only way to get to it is from the top of the peak, witch requires a little hiking. It’s nice because you have a steep run down to the jump and you can hit it as fast or slow as you like. You can speed check the hit if you want. It’s may favorite jump on the mountain, park or not. Let me know if you want more info.

I have added some personal notes to a map of the area. It has info on the best stuff and some local secrates. I could tell you about even more, but then I would have to kill you. There are some things only locals can know about. ;)

also if you get lucky depending on when you go, copper has a free cat that runs from the bottom of copper bowl. it's quite a hike from the top to the good stuff though. union meadows is one of my favorite places to go. like other people said, go to enchanted. seventeen glade is kind of tight at the top but it opens up more near the bottom. don't go over to reso if you don't want to do bumps because 99.9% of the time that's all it is. the a-lift (i can't remember what they call it now) has really good skiing and usually no crowds. hit spaulding at least once the cruise down crosscut right after it. it's usually groomed. hehe there are also some shill huts in the forest for you to find on your own.

on the map quinny made, where it says make sure no one sees you go here on teh backside, how can you get back to a lift or road?

Once you are in that particular area you can not get back to the lifts without hiking. Just follow the avalanche chute/valley all the way to the bottom. You will eventually hit highway 91. Just hitchhike back to Copper. Thats how you do it.
