Utah Has No Snow!

Me and my family went to utah to hopefully get dumped on and have some decent skiing. This wasn't the case so me and my brother resorted to the park..

Let me know what you think the footage we got:

only thanks to PC being a huge corporation and spending millions and millions of dollars to pump out fake snow, thats why their day passes are still 100 bucks even tho maybe 30% of the mountain is available ski on. The areas with no snow making are practically bare, its fucked up.

I'm very grateful I have snow to ski on and park stuff to hit, but people who don't live on the west need to try to understand. The west not having snow is like the east coast's best park is suppose to be 100% open with big jump lines and big rails, multiple runs (like loon or mt snow or whatever) but all that is open is 2 flat boxes and a 5ft jump, a fraction of what is expected and that is "normal" for the area. Yeah, anywhere east of CO gets jack shit for snow (minus areas in the NE like jay peak and such) but us getting under 100" by january is unheard of, Its very frustrating and upsetting. I guess we can just hope it starts snowing soon.

This is mind-blowing to me...there is pretty much no snow in the entire continental US other than man made snow. CO has gotten some...but not much compared to normal years.

Yep, it really sucks.  Especially because I spent a ton of money on a trip out there (get to PC in 3 days).  Oh well, I'm sure it'll still be a blast.

Hope you love park... and I mean LOVE park. As in, you don't wanna ski anything else. I think I'm actually gonna get my downhill bike out and running again this weekend just so I can go jump off some stuff.

It's 53 degrees in PC right now, if that tells you anything.

It's disappointing all around, so why did he try to differentiate east v. west? It just reads kinda douchee saying what we consider a pristine park is shit to him.

Seriously, at least he has trails to ski down. But there is no rational reason to get upset with each other when it's shitty all around.

Some of you guys who are concerned should start looking at space weather. I'm actually curious to see what some others think is going to happen for the rest of the winter. Looks to me like we haven't gotten nearly the amount of moisture predicted for this la Nina and to me it appears there could be some potential troughs in solar activity over the next few weeks. If we get that moisture and the same time the solar activity takes a slight rest we could be looking at stellar snowfall for February. Of course this is all guess work and hoping but I'm legit curious to hear some other opinions.

k yeah you're definitely some kind of impaired. let me lay it out for ya.

1. someone says "at least you have trails to ski down." this person does not seem to understand the disappointment that we have.

2. eheath makes the point that we have good reason to be upset, as conditions like we have out west right now are comparable to a mountain known for its incredible park only having up 3 shitty features right now.

3. you seem to think that eheath is insulting you because you can't read or something, which leads to me telling you off for being a dumbass.

nobody was hating on anyone, eheath made a good point and I'm simply letting you know where you stand. he never said your parks are shit.

I don't get how you guys don't get what I was saying, this guy gets it. I was making a comparison. Let me restate it since most of you have the reading comprehension of a 6 year old.


here in utah (and the west) we get probably 200+ inches by this point, we have ~90 (including preseason storms that metled away) we have a base of about 20 inches at each mountain and its 99% man made snow. We have jack shit for snow, if it wasn't for snow making, we would be skiing.

I then compare this to the east coast in the only way possible (because snow amounts are drastically different) by using a park reference.

at mt snow or loon or whatever place you think has the BEST PARK ON THE EAST, come jan/feb ON A NORMAL YEAR (im not talking about this year) they have a full running park with big jump lines, multiple trails of features etc etc.


Now, i will compare how the lack of snow is similar to the lack of park. Say its jan/feb and this big east coast mountain has two flat boxes and a 5 foot roller jump, that would be very disappointing right? This is what it is like in the west with the snow we have received. Its extremely below average and very disappointing.

I hope all of you stupid kids understand now, i was never insulting anyone.



And do people saying "we only have 2 inches why are you complaining about 90" we don't 'have' 90 inches, thats how much has fallen since october. All of the snow we are skiing on is mostly manmade except some north-facing slopes. I will reiterate, without snowmaking we wouldn't be skiing.

what about west coasters who had relocated their entire life to a place in search of snow that doesn't come?

fuck off dude. i used to live on the east, it sucks but you make the best of it. but i didn't move here to ski rails and groomers, or risk wrecking my skis on rocks anywhere else. its that or sack up and buy a 100 dollar pass to pc or the canyons. not to mention the lack of snow allowing the air in the valley to turn into poison.

can't we be companions in our disappointing season?

You were skiing Park City which has a sweet set up right now and is well maintained. If you were skiing Snowbird or Alta different story. I have a Snowbird pass and I really wish I had PC because there is no park to ride. I would consider you lucky.

not intending to hate here. im not trying to prove a point either. you have had 90 inches of snow fallen. we have maybe 5 inches fallen. we are on 100 percent man made snow. if you were to look at our mountain without the manmade snow, it would be complete grass. im not saying you do this, im just saying I think in general, most people out west take their skiing for granted. while a lot of you in MOST years are shredding knee deep pow, were throwing 5s on some shitty hill made out of trash.
