Whos going next year?!  possible roommate? i dont want to be stuck with some tool.

Also if you go there what are the fraternities like? would dorms be better or worse?

Still have a couple years to go but IN-state in Illinois is like 18k, so it's not a big jump from 18k to 21k. Got to figure out a way to declare residency for at least half of my time there

Going to Community College in Michigan right now, wanted to major in criminal justice then i realized that life is not chill at all..the #1 occupation for suicides is police officers. fuck dat. So now im just taking my Gen Eds and getting my 2 year degree as a RN i think and then going to grad school at university of Utah for Physical Therapy yeyaaa.

i need some opinions here.

im a sophomore in highschool (a very good one too) and i plan on going into civil or mechanical engineering at U of U. right now i have about a 77% average, and i think it will stay about there. im taking honors science classes, and will continue to, and im a year ahead in math. but im debating weather to take AP US history or regents(normal). Do you think i would have a better chance of getting in if i get a super high grade in regents US, or get around an 83 in AP US? also, which course should i take if i want to get more financial aid? and one last question: if i take AP US history now, will i be able to not take history classes in college?

You're not going to get any financial aid at all if you continue with the mindset that a 77% average makes you a "very good" student.

It'd probably be worth it to take AP. high school classes are way easier than college and if you can get some stuff knocked off itll be worth it.

and you realize that they'll basically hire anyone off the street to be a cop, right? Unless you're trying to be something higher up, then it's different.

On another note, my sister is in PT school and absolutely loves it; I'm not interested in the medical fields, but I highly recommend it if that's your deal. and slc is fuckin dope lotta shitty aspects to it, but in the right areas it's a real fun town/area (mostly the U and skiing is all it's got, and in n out, are the highlights. real enjoyable place though).

What do you guys think of doing 2 years at SLCC and then transferring to the U?
Pros/cons?
Was considering doing this since it saves a ton of money and it's basically the same credits.

A few people I know did this as well! If you look at Eheaths post on the first page i think it is, it sounds like credits transfer pretty easy! and yeah its a lot cheaper I feel!

do it. you won't regret it. i'd live here again next year if they weren't making it a freshman only LLC. My RA is a boss and you get some pretty awesome outdoor experiences. we've been rafting, climbing, mountain biking, and we've all become good friends.

AP History and English classes are definitely more difficult than Writing 2010 and History 1700.

Its nice to get an easy A in college. They are hard to come by as an engineer. But if you do get some classes out of the way in highschool, you will have more time to take an avy class or something interesting.

I'm gonna be up there this fall living in the dorms. Toying with the idea of doing the honors program but I'm definitely not staying in that new Mariott hall. The rooms sound nice and all but I go to HS here in Utah so a lot of people I know are going to the U and it seems like all the weirdasses are staying at Mariott.

historically chapel has always been the best party dorms. Of course there are some exceptions but it seems like everyone I have talked to seems to say the same thing

That's what I'm doing now, I'm going for Computer Science. I'll get my AS degree at SLCC, and take a few more classes beyond that and my first 2 years at either the U or Westminster will be done! (Pretty much, with transferring credits you never know).

SLCC has guides for Computer Science on what you should take if you are planning to transfer. I'd assume they have the same thing for other majors too.

The only good thing about MUSS is a T-Shirt and a bag, otherwise you can go sit in the same exact seats for free if you want.

Meh, I thought this was true, until I didn't get MUSS. Having your tickets guaranteed (especially being pac12 now) is clutch. Back in 2008, I pulled off getting free tickets without camping out (which is now pretty much mandatory if you want tickets for a halfway decent game) and i got to the box office pretty early usually, before 10 most times and barely got a ticket each time. Its only 30 bucks and the shirts are really nice UA shirts if that means anything to you, but then you look like every other dweeb on campus that wears it to class. I recommend MUSS if you want to go to the games. if you're on the fence, then just get the free student ticket if you really wanna go to a game but be prepared to put some effort into it. Personally, 30 bucks is worth not having to worry about getting a ticket the week before a game.
