Help me cause some mayhem...

Alright so I got fired from DJing at this nightclub because I blew the speaker.. However, it wasnt even my fault because the sound system was already super fucked up and glitchy from the DJ the night before me. Anyways, thats not really the point...
The point is that while DJing there for the past few months, I've been constantly butting heads with the managers of the place. They are complete dickheads, super miserable, and have had it out for me since day one for no good reason at all. Trust me, they are just bad people who are not positive in the least.
So anyways, I need ideas for fucking with them at the bar when I go there to occassionally party now. I need things that are along the lines of destructive, but I won't get caught. For example, I was thinking that upper decking the toilets in the bathroom would be a good one. So please drop some ideas...

Depends what sort of place it is but you could take a shit in the corner of the dancefloor if no one notices.

Or take some dog shit in a bag in and just leave it on the dancefloor, out of the bag. Several people will step in it and they'll likely never go back again. It'll ruin the business if it happens a few times.

Well when Im too drunk to make it to the bathroom I normally bar piss, super sneaky, yet always a fun time. Or get super drunk and have to throw up, find a place that will be hard for them to find, but will have maximum stink effect. Throw up there.

First and second points both strongly disagree.

If I was a club manager I would at least be smart enough to put some piece of equipment between the DJ and the speakers to prevent unfortunate shit from happening. Besides those speakers should never blow, I don't even know how thats possible. When shit like that happens you can't blame the DJ, they have a hard enough time just setting up their gear and having everything work well enough to play their set and then tearing down in 2 hours. Such a lame thing for a DJ to have to restrict their mixing to avoid hurting shitty speakers.

Vibes OP, thats fucking lame. Hope you find a new place to play your sets, sounds like it may have been for the best anyways. Maybe apologize (even though its not your fault) and see if you can at least get a decent letter of reference from them, its stupid that you should have to do that but do what you need to to get a new job right? Dont want to be burning them bridges.

-You don't know how it's possible to blow speakers?
-Yes, yes you can blame the dj, and rarely is it the sound booth peoples fault. Apart from the aforementioned, who's fault would it be? If OP knew the previous dj gave the system a beating, he should've gone a bit easier on it.
-It doesn't take that much time and effort to prep, unless you have an elaborate set up. And that's not taking into account venues that have gear provided and/or people who help you set your shit up. Don't be so lazy.
-Implying gear failing mid set is a regular occurrence. If there's a fuck up, its either human error or faulty equipment, and you'd have to be retarded to spin with faulty gear.
-Again, not that hard to dismantle.
-Because mixing is detrimental to speakers.

Put a limiter in your signal chain right before your amp.
Solves underpower/clipping issues by bringing the signal level down if the amp was underpowered (if using CDJs/already set up gear this is club's fault, amp should not be underpowered or club manager should have told DJ to not touch master levels).
Solves overpower by bringing signal level down if amp is open enough to get that massive a signal through; wouldn't blow because signal wouldn't be strong enough anyways. This is unlikely anyways.
Huge transients would be less harsh too if the attack on the limiter was fast enough.

If the DJ was using gear already set up it should never happen. Its purely some dumbass who fucked with the signal chain, or fucked up the system when setting it up. In this case its the guy before him who trashed the gear.

Mixing can be detrimental to speakers if the gear is not set up properly. Most likely problem is the speaker was already fucked and OP just barely took it over the edge, but in the first place this was probably an underpowered amp issue. Boost your bass, heavy sine waves clip, boom. Blown speaker (if you don't have a limiter in there somewhere). Or the club was overpowering everything anyways and OP was the unlucky guy to have it blow on him.

If this is a bad idea please explain to me why, I'm probably going to put a limiter in my setup before my speakers when I do get some nice speakers (aside from level issues for mixing/mastering, I would just want it to save my ears in the event that something got way louder than I expected it to).

i personally dont think you should do this whole childish revenge shit but if you need an idea

flush a shitload of paper towel down the toilet. someone did that at my house once when my brother had a party and my dad ended up having to physically take the toilet out and get the wad out of the drain because paper towel turns rock hard if you leave it submerged in water or something. it was a huge pain in the ass for both of them.

i like the upper decker idea too but itd be sweet if you put something other than shit in the top. drawing a blank now but im sure if you put some sort of explosive (with a long long wick) in there you could fsu seriously.

You're pretty spot on.

If you haven't purchased anything yet, check out compressors too - they're basically the same, apart from the ratio setting (and a few other minor things). Compressor ratios typically range from 2:1 to 10:1, whereas limiters have a ratio of 10:1 and higher. I personally have a compressor - ratio control restricts you far less than an exact output limit imo. Furthermore, try and get a limiter that is more lenient on its output ceiling.

And remember, threshold control>input gain.

Word, I never thought about the advantages of having ratio control, limiters just seemed more logical to me for... limiting haha, and compressors better for bass sounds and stuff. I usually have a software limiter on my master channel in Logic anyways, I'll give a compressor a shot though, never thought about the advantages of using ratios over the exact output. Thanks for the tip!
