Young kids and cigarrettes?

I was up skiing at sierra at tahoe the other day and was waiting at the bottom of the park for my friends when another kid (couldn't have been more than 14) stops somewhat close to me waiting for his friends as well, as they arrived to him he wouldn't shut up about how...

"I DROPPED MY FUCKING CIGARRETTES ON THE JUMP! BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

Of course it provided me with endless entertainment for the rest of the day mocking him with my friends but do a lot of kids that age seriously smoke cigs?

Not trying to hate on smoking or anything I just think thats a little extreme to be starting so young.

alchohol = socially exceptable to drink till you puke.
cigarettes = eww, yuck, bad.

i hate this only cool kids smoke idea. all the really cool kids are too busy drinking to worry about smoking.

Well not exactly, but for the most part you're pretty much spot on.  I started smoking them when I started smoking weed because someone told me you get higer when you smoke a butt afterwards...  Which is true...  Except I got caught smoking butts as a young teen and quit then and there, thank God. 

Weed's good enough on it's own, no sense and I mean NO SENSE WHATSOEVER in smoking cigarettes.

there are so many kids at my school who smoke. Both guys and girls and it's mainly the grade 10s and 11s.. It's ridiculous cause some do a pack a day AT school. These fuckers walk out in the middle of class to smoke. Fucking nasty casue they smell like an ashtray even from a meter away..

I'll always make the mistake of saying yes to someone offering a smoke late night at the bar...then wake with the smoke after taste and it sucks...I could never smoke a pack...plus I don't want my clothes, mouth, hands, hair anything to smell.'

Seriously I dont understand smoking and when I see kids doing it at like 14ish it makes  me sick. I have several family members currently in the process of dying because of the years they spent smoking and its not pretty.

Go re-read my original post. I was stating my opinion that I feel its a little extreme to be starting so young and wanted other peoples opinion on it. So...

1. Yeah you can smoke and live forever, good for your mom just wanted to discuss a topic
2. I like black forrest ham and pepperjack cheese.

At my school, kids who smoke cigarettes are considered outcasts by most... Weed, however is very prevalent. Personally, I have never touched a cigarette but have been smoking weed once or twice a week since freshman year, never really stopped but never let it control my life in any way.

started after his funeral. hanging out with some other kids he was close with and they lit some up to relax and i got one from them and i liked it so I've continued to do it off and on. it feels weird to quit cuz it feels like a connection to him in some weird way.
might be really confusing but idgaf.

THIS!! dear god, this. I'm sick of people talking down on smoking when they drink like it's their job or smoke weed. Weed is definitely not a 'healthy' habit, and don't say it is if you smoke. Just admit it's not a smart thing to do.

Jamie is fucking retarded, luke and I are pretty sure he has a crush on both of you haha. Did you know that Jeff smokes and dips now too haha? He's just gotten sooo much cooler lately.
But back to the thread, I've noticed that the younger generations are getting exposed to the stuff earlier thus ending up doing them earlier. I know an 8th grader who smokes weed, cigarettes, and drinks. When I was in 8th grade I barely knew what weed was, the newer generations are fucked up.

I started smoking when I was 15, got through a pack a week usually. I quit at the beginning of this school year after I turned 17. Its just a pointless and stupid habit, I hate having the "smoker" persona too.

I usually have some lying around though. I tend to chain smoke when Im drinking, this new years I smoked a pack of reds in one night and my throat was raw in the morning. Never doing that again.

am i like the only person that has like a cig once every 10ish days just to enjoy the buzz?


i really enjoy the buzz and i am very self aware when it comes to addiction so its definitely no going to become a habit of mine but damn you kids act like you either vomit at the smell of a cig or you smoke a pack a day. i will also have 1 or 2 when i drink but honestly a cig is better for you than smoking a j. A j is unfiltered and the smoke is thicker the only reason cigarettes are so harmful is because they are addictive as hell and additives. Natural cigs are not bad for you if you keep it under control.
