Young kids and cigarrettes?

I was up skiing at sierra at tahoe the other day and was waiting at the bottom of the park for my friends when another kid (couldn't have been more than 14) stops somewhat close to me waiting for his friends as well, as they arrived to him he wouldn't shut up about how...

"I DROPPED MY FUCKING CIGARRETTES ON THE JUMP! BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

Of course it provided me with endless entertainment for the rest of the day mocking him with my friends but do a lot of kids that age seriously smoke cigs?

Not trying to hate on smoking or anything I just think thats a little extreme to be starting so young.

There's tons of kids from grade 9-12 at my school that just non-stop smoke, they go out at lunch or break and just constantly smoke until class starts.

to be honest i don't understand what gets people into smoking in the first place, other then the cool factor. i have smoked 2 cigarrettes in my life, once when i was in 2nd grade /claim, and a couple months ago. i don't know, i just didn't get much from it.

Ive only smoked a few select times, all being when I was extremely shitty drunk, but I always woke up feeling disgusting / disgusted about it. Yet everyone in reno seems to love smoking.

People who don't smoke honestly make cigarettes a way bigger deal than smokers do. Sure you have the annoying "OMG IM SO COOL" smokers but the majority just sit there and enjoy their cigarette. That kid was bummed just like you'd be bummed if you lost your headphones or something, why mock him for something that isn't even a little your business?

Sure it's shitty for him but he's young and stupid

I'm an extremely hypocritical person. For example, I wear tight pants yet I make fun of tight pants all the time, my best friend is in a frat yet I make fun of frats consistently. It's how I entertain myself during the ski day. I don't mock him to his face, just between me and my friends on the lift.

i've always been surprised at how many young people actually smoke these days.


Another thing that surprises me is young kids drinking. Tonight i worked an event attended by high school kids, and the amount of booze we got off them was insane. More than we'd get off a group of college kids.


Funny thing is how the kids are either damn good at sneaking it in (but not as good as i am at catching them) or absolutely oblivious to how clear what they are doing is.

i'm a ski instructor on kids skicamps from like 12-18y and whenever i see a kid smoke i can't help myself but laugh straight in their face

youngest i've seen smoke was a 12y old on a camp, and youngest real smoker was 14 i think .....

it's quite sad imho, but i don't feel bad about lauughing with em, they should realize they're being ridiculous....

Tobacco kills more people every year (not including smokeless) than every other drug combined..at least in this country. The funny part? It's legal.

It amuses me when you have these trashy ass trailer park types who have been cranking butts since their high school days crying out with other people against young kids getting their hands on weed. Ignore the fact that marijuana has 0 negative effects, shit's illegal! Tobacco isn't, so that's ok!

Anything involving smoke entering your lungs has a bad effect. Marijuana in general isn't 100% positive, sure it's great but saying it has 0 negative effects is wrong. I do agree with you about it being stupid that weeds illegal which hasn't killed anyone. And tobacco which is the cause of sooo many deaths is still legal.

Smoke in your lungs isn't harmful if nothing stems from it, yes?

There are no recorded cases in history that show marijuana users even being at risk for emphysema or lung cancer from Mary J use alone. You could smoke from the time you're 18 until the day you die and as long as you don't smoke cigarettes with it - no worries.

If you do enough research on reliable sources, you'll realize that marijuana is harmless. Hard to believe, but it's true.

I dont know, all my friends who smoke weed have bronchitis and minor lung problems. It's nothing compared to cigarretes but i cant imagine its 100% harmless. More like 99% harmless.

Its funny because in middle school and Hs we're told that marijuana will kill you and your life will be destroyed haha, what a load of bs

I've also noticed this in the past 3 years. Lately when I walk around in public every couple blocks I feel like I'm inhaling some kind of fucking cigarette smoke. This shit kills people and it kills me to see so many more people every day deciding to smoke them. I don't understand why people chose to when they are so educated on the effects it has on you. This applies especially to adults because they have the fucking common sense not to. The younger kids are just stupid, more and more kids get their friends to do it and it just keeps spreading, now look, like you saw these little fuckers are bitching about a cigarette on the mountain. The reason these younger kids do it is because they're trend whores trying to fit in just like everyone else, they're to fucking stupid to think for themselves.

hahah im in my last year of high school and all the time i get shit for not smoking from people, i usually dont really hang out with them and most of my friends dont smoke just cuz its useless and fucking stupid, but its also a lot easier to get them here as theres no legal age to purchase so i see a lot of 8th graders buying them and shit. but yeah i never understood smoking

I started smoking them randomly when I was drunk and stuff because my friends had them, (and its a great drunk feeling hahaha), then I started smoking half weed half tobacco bong bowls, then before I knew it I was smoking 3 or 4 a day through a bong with weed... So bad, knocked myself out a few times from the headrush, tobacco when its that intense is no fun. Only lasted for a couple months but I kicked the habit during exams, dealt with the anxiety and got over it.

To the guy saying weed has no negative side effects... You're a dumbass, they may not be as tangible but if you were popping percs all day you wouldnt be as effective a person as if you were sober so why trick yourself into thinking weed is any different? They both have addictive properties, especially now with the ridiculous THC content in the stuff, although weed is not nearly as bad. I've puked my breakfast up the day after I stopped smoking weed from nausea, and you're telling me that there are no harmful effects? And you're telling me that the wicked smoker's coughs (from weed) that people have are healthy for them?

You can make anything look good compared to cigarettes, but inhaling smoke is bad for your lungs period. Just like eating mushrooms is bad for your stomach lining; you can get ulcers from it, but its not going to happen if you trip once every month or two, and weed won't cause you harmful effects if you use it once or twice a week. I have seen the negative effects full on just by having friends who have quit and have tried to quit, and have had medical problems related to their smoking habits. Maybe you won't get lung cancer but to assume that its all good and fine is naive.

I mean I'm like 4 weeks from my 16th birthday and in the past week i smoked around a pack and a half. Thats only because I was skiing at stowe with some of my bros and no parents so we were just chillin. But it'll probs take me another month to go through a pack. Im completely fine without them but I like to just chill my friends and smoke a few butts.

in europe its common for young kids to smoke cigs. Its just something they have always done there. My friend went 2 years ago and just saw a huge line of kids and teenagers lined up at the tobacco shop

hahahah nah thats not true. I said the only reason was that i was with my friends and i just end up smoking more with them and since our parents weren't there up our asses we ended up smoking more. They're some of my closest friends i haven't seen since august and we used to all smoke a ton over the summer but all cut back but being together just through us back into it i guess. So no Im not a moron. You just care too much about peoples choices..
