Squaw Valley is having their worst winter possibly ever. With a near zero inch base and only sun/warmth in the 14 day forecast, SF Times reports they might file for natural disaster insurance relief.

If they reach what are tecnhically "drought conditions" - based purely upon lack of precipitation then maybe they can file for disaster insurance relief... but it would have to be very dry, for a very long time...

squaws gotten 12 inches of snow at the base so far this year and highs are supposed to be in the 50's for the next 10 days.

I just looked at the snowfall tracker from that year, and I was wrong.  It was 157 inches from April 1 to May 10.

That season we got 82 inches TOTAL from Jan1 to April 1, which is pretty bad for Squaw.  As I said before though, Squaw had 190 inches by Jan 1, so the base was down, unlike this year.

Oh well, hopefully things will change.

on the brightside, all it takes is a 4-day long storm to come in and fill up the mountain with five feet of fresh.

but, yeah, zero snow sucks.

that's what the East deals with just about every other year.

pretty mind-blowing looking at Squaw webcams, though. unbelievable.
