if you are hitting big jumps you might want to consider going wider underfoot for a more stable landing. and for rails skinnier are easier to control and won't get caught up in each other
me, being quite a small person, i like skinny skis, for example i ride 85mm t-halls. and the widest i would venture is about 92mm, since i also ski the QC, so icy small hill's/
I ride One Life's as pretty much my only ski. They've had way more park days than pow on them. I own STLs but they just don't do it for me anymore. I'll bust them out very rarely if all I'm doing is ripping groomers. I just don't enjoy riding sub-100 skis anymore.
my buddy shreds whistler blackpark on his ep pros throwin steezey sevens switch sevens rodeo and switch rodeo aswell as slays rails and he looks cool as fuck doin it
and until you have hit a 65 foot+ jumps on a pair of hell bents or ep pros you havent lived
Well, I think that the width differences are quite dependent on style. If your looking to get techy on rails, having a narrower lighter ski is a bit more cohesive. However, if you like doing slower, smoother tricks, a fat ski can be more suitable.
My min ski is 85mm for only park, nothing else really and I have mid skis, between 90 and 95mm which is also good for park even though i use it for BC.
i really love very skinny light responsive yet not too stiff skis in the park. with my punx i dont even really feel them on my feet. they do exactly what i want with 0 effort. edge to edge is so quick with 82mm. i ski them in a 182 cm length being 6ft2 but id get em longer if they had them. i love this ski on groomed too, they carve super nice and i find them quite stable at speeds if you hold an edge, only in pow they are atrocious. my domains in 179 feel very dead and heavy in comparison to the punx. i much rather ski the punx.
skid my 189 hellbents in the park but i didnt like em there really. too bulky to throw around, too floppy.
currently i ride 95 underfoot kung fujas and before that i was on anthems. im a firm believer that you will get used to whatever you are on but i would like to try out an 80 mm waist ski in park just to see whatit is like
Guys I'm not looking for guidance on which type of ski, I'm simply just making a thread to see other peoples opinions and so that you can share your opinions.
Pretty sure peeps get that. They're just sounding off on what they ski. Still relevant. If ya want opinion I really think its just a matter of style. With a narrower ski you can get way more technical with switches, grabs, etc. With a fat ski it's more of a surfier, floatier style. Way less tech. Feels cool doing long, no change grinds or big floaty 3s or even just straight airs. Sure I get the crazy stares from the A-banger kids when I lap the park on my opus'. I even catch the occasional snicker or "he thinks it's ten feet of pow" comment, but I really don't give a crap what peeps think. I'm not skiing to impress them. I'm skiing because I enjoy it and I feel like a fatter ski just suits my style better. Got no hate for traditional park skis. Those kids are progressing the sport. I just gotta do what's fun for me and right now fat is where it's at. Once ya go fat you'll never go back. Haha.
Tons of people at my hill ski fattys is the park. i see bentchetlers, hellbents and chopsticks constantly, occasionally i'll see some lizzy's, EP pros, or obsetheds but not to often
i use my Bacons in the park, and they work really well. On rails and on landings they're very stable, and a plus is you can shred park n pow, not just park.
