I don't see the difference. Nothing will happen. They think they need the power. If they truly do I trust their discretion. It's the government. We don't know everything that is going on. So if they need it, they need it.

I have been living under a rock for about a month, but why didn't I ever hear about this law before...it seems it came out of the left field or something. It just seems to me an extension of the Patriot Act passed by the Bush admin.

For representatives of a country who believes in personal rights and freedom, how was this allowed in the first place? It seems illogical...until you look at who benefits from this bill: Corporations, mostly in the war industry.
Congress no longer represents the normal American, they are payed off by the lobbyists. The greed in the Western world has allowed this and the greedy are now exploiting this. Congress is protecting their interests: making money!

We should be comparing the 2 last administrations to Kim Jong Il not hitler and stalin...that thats just stupid. Centralization of power! And now I fear Canada is going down this slippery slope. Whatever Americans do, Canada will follow without thinking...and this is what scares me.

For the first time ever: I will praise the madman that enters Congress and shoot up the place, making way for a government of the people. If we cant stop them legally, its time to take action even if it costs lives.

Whether it has been done "illegally" or "legally" it has been going on for decades. Maybe if we hold mass protests we can force the government to reform their ways; that seems to work well if recent memory serves me well...

Is it mind blowing to anyone else that this bill can be passed which is probably one of the only steps towards a more repressive government signed in Obamas time in office (i dont know for sure so back the fuck off with your facts)  but we have such a fucking hard time passing a bill the is meant to reform healthcare which is clearly cluster fucked.

Constitution guarantees the pursuit of happiness? Or life and liberty? It doesn't guarantee any of those things. Read the basic documents of our nation to understand what they actually provide.

Also, taxes were higher under Ronald Reagan than they are now.
