When is the last time you helped someone out?

Well today i was skiing at Whitefish Mountain resort and as i was heading out of the parking lot i thought I saw some skis laying on the ground and I went over to look at them (absolutely no cares were around) and they were a pair of Rossignol S7's with jesters and such a sick ski. I really considered taking them but I thought "karma will be a real bitch if I do." So I didn't take them, I turned them into the lost and found and now I feel really good. Whens the last time you helped someone out?

The last time my uncle tried to flatbed a bus with his tow truck, the hinge that allows the flatbed to tilt blew right off from the weight.  He got an estimate of $15,000 to fix it...  Brought it to me and I fixed it for free fabbing all the hinge giudes, pins etc from scrap heavy plate and rod I had hanging around in a couple days after work.  

He was blown the F away that I refused to charge him since it didn't cost me anything except some of my time to do it.

this is a good thread for me to participate in. so starting well last week my friend starts working at our local mountain and we smoke on his brake so what i usually do is go to my car and prepare whatever so he can come in and out quick, his breaks arent long. also on new years me and this kid decided to host a simple get together in this shack we made, where i proceeded to share large amounts of alcohal. i also think its important to do other simple shit like holding the door open and saying thank you and whatever. so this is where my karma gets me. one of the people i shared my alcohal with was my x. so its 10 minutes before new years and were kissing and shit, im super fucked up so this was enjoyable. 2 minutes before new years she gets all annoyed for some reason and makes me move. new years comes and im sitting in a chair alone. and to make my karma even worse, smoking before school today i dropped half my weed and of coarse it was all shake so this was just wasted. i dont have good karma, no matter what i do for other people. honestly why.

I get to hear that I "look friendly" a lot, so that might explain why seriously every day strangers come up to me and ask for directions. Its a super small and perhaps insignificant deed to tell someone the way to the nearest ATM/which subway to take/where some museum is, but it still makes me stoked when you can make someone else happy and help out. coolstorybro.jpg

Was driving with a friend over the summer, I was in the passenger seat and as we passed a house, I swore I saw someone lying on the ground yelling for help. We contemplated whether what I saw was for real, until I just said, fuck it go back and check. So we turned around and I kept my eyes peeled. Right before giving up, I spotted what I saw. It was a poor old woman with a wicked case of "fallen and can't get up" in 80 degree heat. She had no idea how long she had been down, and we couldn't get her up (could't put weight on her knees). We propped her up on a chair and called an ambulance. Worst part was her husband was inside, but deaf. I felt so bad but so glad I saw her. Poor lady.

I used to walk though the parking garage where I park and try to open doors so that I could lock them for the person. I left a note once saying I locked your door, make sure you do it next time.

This is a pay it forward type thread also. Love that concept.

Because you expect it. We don't do good things for people so good things happen to us. We do good things for other people in hopes to spread the compassion and in return, they help someone else in need. Its called paying it forward. Not paying it to yourself.

Today when I was in the lodge of my local mountain I saw these two preteen girls trying to take off one of the girl's boots. It was mildly amusing watching them struggle to yank off this boot. And I didnt understand why it took one girl really pulling this boot and it didnt seem as if it was going to come off until I saw that one of the buckles was still buckled and notified them of this. They thanked me about 8 times and then easily were able to remove the boot. I could have just let them keep trying for the laugh when I realized what the issue was, but it was too painful to keep watching at that point

Once on a fieldtrip to Boston, My friend and I purchased and orange and a chocolate and put it in a homeless woman's change cup. She was pleasantly surprised.

this happens every time I try to give a pointer to my GF, shes gets an attitude and starts being a fuckin bitch then we get into a huge arguement. shes doesn't see herself being in the wrong. its just me being an asshole.

My girlfriend and I are "poor ski bums". Well, her did passed away at the beginning of the holidays, meaning she had to go home to be with her family for the holidays till about mid January. Of course, this means she didn't make that oh important holiday pay cheque.

So I paid for her January's rent, and will most likely pay her Feb's rent as well... we're pretty much married though (without the legality's of actually being married of course), so I'm not sure if this counts, 'cause we do things for each other all the time.

fixed a friends radiator hose on her car that had a big hole in it.

helped a woman change her tire.

was at a gas station and saw a bunch of 18 year olds with a flat tire who didnt know how to change it.. their parents showed up and they didnt have a jack or tire iron.. so i lent them mine since i had it in my care.

gave a friend a ride to the airport.

bought a friend lunch the other day.

i figure, i've been blessed with a job and everything i have, that its the least i can do to help someone out even if it mildly inconveniences me or buy someone coffee sometimes. i guess i'm just a giving person? idk. not bragging or anything.

Worked at a homeless shelter New Years Eve with some friends and my parents amongst other people. Made food for later, and prepared a dinner and served it to some people. We also brought some granola bars and handed them out to people who were inside waiting before dinner and chilled in the room after with people and my friend taught little girls

Helped a lady push her broken down car in a gas station parking lot last week. She said battery trouble so I told her I'd take a look, some domestic POS and the battery was UNDER the washer fluid reservoir WTF??? jiggled the terminals and bam started right up.

Last season I helped some poor kid in the family park(baby park) put his ski on, back binder was sticking up and this kid just kept stomping his foot on the thing wondering why it wouldn't click in. walked up and stomped the back down and the kid gave me one of those "god I'm stupid" looks. he was on rents though so I kinda helped him and the mountain.

Love helping people in skiing. Sold some skis and binders to a buddy for 20 bones, gave another pair and boots to a buddy that is now using em for a lift maintenance job in CO at Eldora. Given away lots of shit on here, marmot jacket to some kid in canada, icons, ns lanyard, old ski movies or any other shit I don't use anymore.

It always feels good to help someone out for no reason.

Gah... Pennsylvania has so many rules haha. Boy am I happy to be home in Maine.

I made my sick bf lunch and dinner and cleaned his house a bit and stayed with him all day yesterday. Does that count?

oh i was riding bear a few weeks back and this chick was sitting down semi-infront of the rail, so i stopped and asked if she needed help getting up. she obliged.

once helping her up i asked if she had ever ski'd before and if she was by herself(she was cute). she said no she hadnt and that the dude she was with left her at the top.

so i forfeited my chance to hit the rail, told her i had 6 years of instructing experienced and helped her down the steep part of the run and showed her what she should practice.

after that she thanked me and we parted ways.
