"I hate park rats"

The crowds are thick during holidays everywhere, but leave it to Vail resorts to punish the "park rats"
At breckenridge the park is closed to the rest of the mountain, meaning you cant take a warm up run from the top of the mountain into the park...You have to take the 5 chair which is over run by beginners just to get into the park. chyea
So im not even complaining, I dont pay attention to rules, I just cut through at jump 2 of park lane or past the pipe in freeway! BUT this is where the plot thickens.
Patricia Campbell, Chief Operating Officer of Vail Resorts had this to say, "I hate park rats, I dont care about them, they dont bring anything to the mountain."
At this point Im angry, apparently there are facebook groups against this whole thing, but Im one for action, let the games begin.

You dont have to wonder why all the woman working for vail resorts management are "Ms."

Miss Campbell is the blood sucker with nothing to offer. People who work for the ski industry do it out of pure passion. Us park rats give their lives to skiing, do whatever it takes to make it happen and just when it cant get any harder, you run into vail resorts upper management that has easily spent $10000 enforcing this new park rule, instead of investing in a new chair or features.
add it up: patrol staffing entrances, signage, all the managements salaries that had to meet everyday to conspire against kids skiing!
2012 may be the end, so lets go out with a bang. Operation take the park back from vail.

Yeah, I would sneak under and just lap. Why would the park crew even care if they love to build what the other (Ski patrol, and CEO or some shit) hate to the core. Just dont get caught by ski patrol. Im sure park crew could care less if you hit a jump or 2.

well they made it so the only legal way is to take the chair 5 lift which only services the park, however this is also a lifted used by the mass of beginners and ski school and since it is a two person slow lift people are having to wait in 45 min long lines to ski one line of park.

btw i dont care if that was a run on sentence.

Breck's park builders should all move to Vail instead. Vail's park lift is a high speed quad with almost never any crowds. The only problem is their park is a little lackluster.

you worded that really weird. "take the chair 5 lift which ONLY services the park, however this is also a lift USED by the mass of beginners and ski school". So - it isn't ONLY servicing the park than is it.

I just went to their website to look at the trail map and I'm a little confused. There is no way to take the "Colorado Super Chair" up and ski down Four O'Clock to the top of Chair 5 and enter the park? how exactly do they make it so? What was the normal way to lap the park before?

yes, there are high speed quads that run. but they put up a blockade between the access trail from this lift to the parks. the lift (i think the lift is the Colorado chair? maybe im wrong, i dont really look at names) wont be useful to park skiers until after new years day when they're supposed to take the blockade down. so now, you end up in the line for an old, slow double which is otherwise only used by people that are skiing the short green groomers or mini park, or need to get back to their lodge down the 4 o clock trail. this leads to tons of inexperienced skiers and gapers clogging up the area.

and the "park rat" remark is unrelated, OP just tied them together

lol, now you can personally express ur opinions to her, but you wont see her skiing, her skis got stolen!!!karma is a bitch, just like how they couldnt even open the mountain today with 20,000 people ready to buy lift tickets!!!!!

you cant get to the park cuz there is ski patrollers blocking the entrance! Its unbelievable,

DO NOT TAKE ACTION TOWARD ANY EMPLOYEES WHO ARE DOING THEIR JOBS, THEY DID NOT MAKE THESE RULES UP AND DONT LIKE ENFORCING THEM EITHER.

I'm skeptical that the CEO of a major corporation actually say something like that. And, clearly "park rats" do bring something to Breck, or they wouldn't allocate one of the world's largest park budgets to catering to us.

Sounds like a tall tale if you ask me. Not that I disagree that the fence was a boneheaded move.

This. As a park rat and a senior in college soon to get a Bachelor's in Business MGMT, I can safely say that this is no way to treat ANY customer in ANY business. If I was on the BOD of Vail Resorts, even if I wasn't part of the targeted group, I would rally for that COO to be ousted immediately.

What ever is going on at vail is new to me i havent been there this season, at breck though i stopped to talk to the patrolers about it and they said it was because of a bunch of gapers getting hurt not in those words, but thats what they said. im not really understanding this comment though, op give us some back ground on this quote because i feel this quote was taken out of context.
