has anyone ever seen anything like this happen on these? fks 14s. I basically landed really far forward on a cork5 and this thing just exploded. I'm gonna warranty them since theyre about 2 months old.. just curious if anyone else has seen this/why the fuck it happened??
Well they got stressed and because they are plastic they exploded...Rossi will warranty them and send them back real quick there customer service is excellent. Sucks but sometimes that shit happens especially with plastic
Right, only since the binding was brought back from retirement after there was such a high demand for them... that would never happen with the original all metal FKS'. Those broke because plastic + cold + stress= broken, that will happen with any plastics at cold temps.
I'm hopping that they bring back the 155s because like most people I can't use 18 din bindings because I'm too light but still want that rock solid toe piece that the 180 has
you can be at the bottom of the DIN range of any new binding. It's the max you don't want to be at (no elasticity in the spring leads to inconsistent release values).
very true, but a lot of people will run the 180 to avoid the OP's problem not for the DIN range but for the construction. This is probably a sign for the Rossi group to release the metal construction in a lower DIN range...
If the only difference is the spring, then sure. I'd go for a metal binding over a plastic one, even if I'm keeping my DIN at 12 or lower, just for the reason the OP demonstrated.
I set my DIN on 10 and use Look Pivots 18s..
The extra money is well spend on the most burly binding out there + turntable design that I can and will use for years to come..
when i broke my fks heel piece i took them to the shop to see what happened, they just put a new heel piece on my ski and sent the broke one in for warranty. i also got a high five from everyone in the ski shop because they said only real men can break these bindings haha.
