Shames Mountain Ski Area

Hey guys, I just saw this video about the shames mountain ski area near Terrace BC. I had never heard of this before seeing the video, so I thought id share it with you guys as well. Some of you may find it boring, but hopefully some of you will appreciate it. anyway, tell me what you think ....

I live here, so amazing that the hill opened back up this year, huge sucess, but lots of work still needs to be done. Also, this year has been absolutely unreal, so much snow. It's been deep pow just about every day. I don't know if anywhere in north america has more snow right now!

man it must be awesome to live there! looks like such beautiful terrain! I know how much snow you guys get, its absolutely ridiculous... any advice for someone travelling there for the first time? I have a trip planned there in early january of next year. i wana ride the lifts, but i also want to do some touring as well

Ya both are great, it's super easy to get to great terrain touring. I know there has been a few books and guides published about back country in the area, and there is a website dedicated to different runs and routes in the area. PM me if you want any more info

Awsome!!! I live In PG love that whole area west of hear!! Were pretty lucky when I think about it. its easy to take it for granted when it snows so much up hear.  Its dumping as I type big time right now. Ill be breaking the EP pros out in the morrning for a morning shred in some virgin pow:]

 I skied last year with a guy from Terrace who was talking to me about what you guys are doing at Shames while on the Chair at Tabor Mt. Is there any Shares left for Shames? PM me or post a link how to purchase some. Great Video. BTW some awsome terrain shreddin the Pow at Shames in the Vid!!! Coool!!! Thanks

Ha ha i know didnt come out right did it. But we do get some good snow conditions in the back country around hear east and west:] The Magregors are awsome to hick up and ski down. I live beside Tabor Mountain just came back from a great day of skiing. 2min from the house. Gotta like that. 25 min to Purden. PK 1.5 hours and deep powder. Thats what I like about hear. Oh and in the summer great boating lakes and fishing. Its not so bad. Im from Nanaimo skied with a pass at mt Washington for years. Do I miss there? Yep at times. Its just fine in PG most of the time I find though.

it it wasn't so far. I had big plans with a buddy of mine to head up there to a) go skiing (he helped build a cabin up in the backcountry somewhere there this summer and apparently we have full access to it) and b) to pick the brains of those behind "Friends of Shames" to start a backup plan for when my local hill inevitably follows the same fate.

Unfortunately, my friend broke his ankle and is out for pretty much the rest of the season, and no one else is willing to make the trek from the Kootenay's with me to check the place out. With 4 days round trip travel time, it's a bit of a commitment. poop.

Thats a bummer dude, they're having a killer season this year, back country cabins around there are so sick! I'm missing most of it this year too, kills me
