The radiator in my room is old, will it ever make warms again?

I have this steam-heated radiator in my room that only gets warm after the Furnace has been on for an hour. Is there anything I can do to improve circulation?

I know this is a random question, even for NSG, but you've surprised me before

First off it'll be a boiler that is heating the water. There is little to nothing that can go wrong with a radiator itself, it's basically pipes that circulatory warm water and give off heat. The problem could be a lack of a recirculating pump if the rad happens to be one of the furthest points from the boiler or it could be as simple as turning up a thermostat that should be on the radiator it self or it could be a zoning valve in your mechanical to where the boiler is

thanks Karl, don't know if mine has zoning valves or recirculating pumps. I just went to my basement to take a look, I can't see anything that would control which heat goes to where. As for a recirculating pump, I have no idea what to look for.

The house was built in the 1930's, so I know the system is pretty old minus the generator

There air in the system so the water wont circulate.. there should be a little screw valve on the top of the radiator tucked in the back or ont the side.. unscrew it alittle untill some water comes out so u know all the air is out..

if that doesnt work... sorry

I have the opposite problem. my room is right beside the furnace room and a thousand degrees all the time. so i keep the window open but now from like the floor to my knees is -20 and the rest of the air is still hot. so fucking uncomfortable
