I was wondering what flex rating(and or full tilt tongue(#)) you guys think i should have for starting skiing rails and pretty small jumps(probably about 5-10 feet max)
it's not about what flex for your type of skiing, it's about what flex you need based on how big you are, what your ankle flexibility is like, and what you are used to.
2 skiers mainly skiing rails and urban, but one is 110 pounds, the other is 210. They would not have the same flex boots even though they ski the same terrain.
im a bit smaller than you and ive got 10s which are too stiff and i think they would be for anyone skiing small jumps and rails. im gonna go for the 6, mabye the 8, id say look at one of those two
i dont know if this will help you but im 207 lbs, ski both park and backcountry/steep stuff and i use the flex #6 for park, and when it snows or i know im gonna be doing something more difficult i change to the #8 that i bought, i also flexed a boot with the #10 and i was barely able to flex the boot at all
well I have the #6 flex and i'm 5'9" about 135 pounds and i'd say its pretty good. i could even go lower for the #4 and have no problem, but i think the 6 is good for me. its really up to what you like and are used to. Some people just like the old #2 flex while others can't have anything lower than an 8.
I have the og booters with the #2 flex and I'm 6'2 190lbs, I'll use these in the park or for just messing but I'll put in my #8 flex for everything else. A #4 or #6 would be a good choice for you
well ive been used to a flexier boot for a while, and when i tried on the 10's it was at the shop when i was buying extra tongues and teh dude literally grabbed the boot from the shelf and was like try to cram ur foot into there to see what the flex is like, so i didnt really wanna stay in the boot too long to see how that flex felt
Most park skiers around here seem to have the #6. It's a medium-soft flex and I think it's good for park. I found the #6 to be too soft, but then again at 6'2" I'm a lot bigger than you and I also ski all-mountain a lot. That's why I got the #8.
