so i'm pretty set on buying a panasonic hdc-sd90k. i have a gopro, and i'm looking for something for more traditional shots. 1080p60fps is just what i'm looking for, in a small relatively cheap package with nice features.
anyways, what are your guys' opinions on buying camera slightly used from ebay? my mom thinks that i should stay away from it in case something doesn't work properly, but i feel like ebay is generally pretty secure. there are camera for sale there there are atleast like 100 dollars cheaper than anywhere else on the internet, and being 15 and all i really don't have much to spend.

There is nothing wrong with used gear, most of my cameras I bought used. But I would recommend going to a store and buying it used rather than eBay. Stores will inspect the equipment before they sell it and won't dick you around. Someone on eBay could lie about it's condition and you have no idea what the real deal is until after you receive it, when it's too late.
If there are no stores around you (look for them, don't just assume), you can check out keh.com, adorama.com, and bhphotovideo.com. They all have used sections of their store and are very reputable.

idk about electronics on ebay. they seem sketchy to me. im with your mom and this post^ on that one. stay away from ebay cameras cuz you can never be too sure whereas in a store you can see the camera and inspect it yourself before you buy it. i only buy golf clubs off ebay cuz you can visually tell if they are gonna work or not

what if the camera on ebay has a 7 day return policy, where if i contact the seller within 7 days i can pay for return shipping and get money back? i want to save money where i can on this, still need to get boots for this year and skis for next. the one i'm looking at is 290, the cheapest brand new one is like 350. 60 bucks is kind of a lot to me.

hmmm well i guess if they are a legit seller. maybe you can read some reviews about the seller or see how other customers rate them. i just know you gotta be careful buying things online like that because even if you return the camera and the seller says they'll give you your money back doesn't mean they will then you are completely screwed out of 250 bucks. but if it seems like a legit seller with a lot of good reviews and feedback it may be worth a try

I've sold every camera, laptop, iPhone, and other electronics on eBay. Make you buy from a seller with enough feedback and that they describe the item fully. I bought my last two Macbook Pro's off eBay too. I just picked this 2.2 quad MBP with 3 years of Applecare for $1499 (would have been $2700 brand new). On eBay for 11 years, and no issues. The fees suck balls though.
