So I figured there was a fair amount of nsers from the area who will be traveling up to hv/kb. If you are just post up in this thread for the winter. Maybe majority of us can get together and ski.
I know there are a few other threads about hv or kb but just let them die and if you're going post in here!
jlens05sounds sick af. How soon? Think itll be set up tomorrow? Ik you're not actually park crew, but you're the closest thing we have to an inside source haha.
Yeah it'll be open. They usually do the builds mid week.
Does anyone know if holiday valley, or bristol, or kissing bridge, or really any resort in the area offers a college night discount or anything special to bring the price way down? I've been checking the liftopia app but I havent seen anything decent yet.

jwvAnyone been to Peek lately? What's the park set up there?
Peak has a pretty fun plaza that they setup for their comp in the 180 last weekend, stairset and a bunch of creative hits, 2 flat tubes, weird hip thing, wallride, down flat dtube and down bar. They're also opening up the 720 park and possibly the 360 park this weekend. Not sure what the setups on those will look like. 180 may be changed up as well, still a good time though.
How late do you guys think hv will stay open because im out for injury and always do a 2 day trip to holiday valley. I broke my radius and chipped my ulna the first week of January and its a 6-9 week recovery. Will like 20 trails still be open mid to late march?

they have been open that late with that many trails, if not more than that, each year in the past couple of years. I do know they close night skiing at some point though, if that matters to you at all. of course, them staying open depends on the weather but they should be able to manage from this point forward i hope
I know everyone hates on KB, but damn I have so much fun here. I can actually hit a lot of the features and I'm not confined to like 3 or 4 like holiday and peek. I guess that's cause I'm not very good. But damn I feel like I actually get better here instead of being scared of all the features at holiday. Like I can hit 3 or 4 features a run and mix it up instead of like 2 at peek or holiday. I don't know, maybe it's because I suck but I have so much fun here. There's actually a lot of people here who are good and the dudes I've talked to are so chill. Idk. I might get some heat for this but I really like it here.
I am done with that fucking shithole. I went there today for late night great night, went to hit a rail, and the fucking thing fell out of the fucking ground. That's right, a fucking rail FELL OUT OF THE GROUND. How hard is it to set a rail into the fucking snow? Fuck that place, not only did they set up the worst park I have seen ever, they don't even know how to set in a rail correctly. Thank god I got a seasons pass to holiday valley this year hahahahaha.
Rip kb. They were once the holders of the best park in the area, but that time has long since passed. Don't go there to ski park, you will be severely dissapointed.

I have loved kb from the start. They've been my home resort forever. But this "park" they built is fucking ridiculous. It's shitty as hell, they made it with the intent to make it not sketchy at all but what really happened was the park became 12 times sketchier. Part of this is probably rattled me talking, but you have to understand, A FUCKING RAIL I HIT FELL OUT OF THE FUCKING GROUND. It's crazy how sketchy that is. That shit should never happen ever no matter what. I'm sorry I'm joining the kb hate bandwagon, but it's time I came to terms with reality. It's shit. Everything is ride on and they cut half of their rails in half. It's really a shame, kb was the shit two seasons ago. But things change and as much as I hate to admit it, I have to move on from kb. Maybe one day they will have a real park again that isn't a joke (I really hope this is true). Until then though you can catch me at holiday valley.
With all this negativity, I do want to point out some positives. For one, I had so much fun at kb. We fucked around and laughed our asses off tonight. There still is a vibe at kb that you just don't get at hv, and it's a shame that the awesome vibe doesn't come with awesome parks. God I miss the glory days there when it seemed like everyone was about that kb life.

Yeahhhhh that's fucking insane that that happened to you... But yeah I get ya on that. There was one huge rail on twister with a HUGE kicker up to it hahaha like it was no a lip. That was a full fucking kicker lmao. Like sooooo big. For the most park I like it because I suck and ride on rails are my shit. But yeah... You guys are all good skiers so I can see why you'd go to holiday. I'm just not good enough for a lot of those features so like, KB is just Mingg friendly hahahahaha. Maybe later this year I'll be able to though!

I know what rail you're talking about, that rail that used to be the phatman rail. It's crazy no one on park crew knows what theyre doing. I I'm still in shock to what kb became haha it really is a shame. Good thing my seasons pass there was free or else I would be really pissed ahah
I went to KB for that Late Night Great Night thing, was super fucking cool, I wish they'd that more often. Kinda crazy that a rail fell out for someone but I'm not thaaat surprised. KB is definitely a bit sketchy but honestly almost all small mountains kind of are. That being said the park(s) aren't that bad, they're not amazing, but not really that bad either. KB is a small mountain that's cheap AF they do a pretty good job making a fun grinderbarz park.
Personally, I'm glad I'm not stuck with skiing HV or KB exclusively. HV is fun because of that lift near Fiddlers, but at the same time it's so hard to get speed on that trail and the rails are small, and not really that trickable. Sometimes I get kind of bored at HV. That jump is perfect though, however made that, bravo. That's one thing about KB the jumps are usually bad.
For anyone who wants a true park, i'd suggest taking a trip to Peak. I honestly dont think they could have fit any more features on their main park. Also have around a poppy 40-45 footer. Unreal and creative setup all the way down the hill. I didn't think they could one up their park from last year but they proved me wrong. 720 park is fun for some chill laps as well. GET TO THE PEAK.
Has anyone actually ever gone to Buffalo Ski Club? My friend just told me they have a park with a rope tow and everything. I think I'm gonna check it out next week!
Also, I totally lied about KB. That was possibly the worst park I've ever attempted to ride. I don't even know how to describe how shitty everything looked and how it rode. It was miserable. They sent an instructor up to rake and he was raking the side of the box... and then instead of raking snow onto the ice, he raked all the snow off of it and made it a larger patch of ice at the landings... and he didn't bring his skis up with him so people were still hitting the features. It was such a mess, oh my god. Fuckin KB. Gapers don't ruin parks, drug tests do.
MinggPeek's park is so fucking fun. So many different lines and different features. I had so much fun there today. Wish I could make that drive every day.
ski-for-lifewhere is peak location wise compared to HV?
Driving from up north, it's only a half hour longer. HV is an hour North east from Peek, but if you take the 90 straight South it's only a 30 minute difference. We should go together sometime!

thats fucking jiberish talk to me hahahaha but 30 mins seems legit.

Yeah I've been to buffalo ski club and their park sucks, i haven't been to kb this year but from what I've heard I would say that kb and buffalo's parks are pretty comparable in shittyness

I'm tellin' you they're doing big things. They get better every year, they just added another plaza into their main park with some super creative hits, stair set, close outs, etc.
SonOfAnderHeard Holiday's parks are no bueno this year, wanted to make a trip up but not going to if the parks are bad, any updates?
probably gonna butcher the list of what they have but, fiddlers=flat rail, tube flat up flat, up down box, mid size jump(i think??), up box, long tube. Mardi gras rail park= shotgun rail, flat rail, handrail, i think a box and another thing but i dont know how to describe it as i only saw it from the chair and i suck at park!

Hahaha thanks for the info man, doesn't really sound like its worth a lift ticket at this point. One jump and like 10 rails? damn.

Peek is like..45 minutes to an hour west of holiday valley. Its probably 3/4's the size of holiday but if you ski park pknpk is where you want to go.
Heres a rough estimate of where peek is compared to HV..
We have 27 features in our main park, plus two other rail parks with ~15 features between the two.
We have jumps that range from 15-50 feet and everything is well maintained. We rake features every 2-3 hours.
Seriously guys peek n peak is worth checking out, the only place with better parks around here is 7 springs..and theyre all the way in PA. I promise you guys wont be disappointed in our set up. Its worth the extra drive.
Ive posted this in the peek thread but im on the park crew at peek and can answer any questions you guys have. Please come check it out!!

ski-for-lifeThere's more to a resort that the park, just sayin' :)
Yee Hv is lit cause the actual terrain is the best around. They're parks super fun too I think. I just think they're the best resort around when you look at the whole picture. Opening & Closing dates, facilities, terrain variety, vibe etc.. Just my opinion tho. Everyone rides where their friends are tho that's what it comes down too.

Exactly. It's been my home resort since I started skiing when I was 5 and it's still one of my favorite places to ski even though I've skied all over the USA and france/Switzerland. It just has a great feel to it.
On a side note, where the hell do they find the people to run the lift lines?? At Tannenbaum when there is literally no people and you ski up they look at you and say 2? Go ahead... REALLY?? Oh well.
MinggAnyone gonna be at holiday tonight?
I was there for the day yesterday, the skiing was wicked and surprisingly wasn't packed with people. What is presidents week? ?

Holiday is a better resort, yeah. Not gonna get into the whole vibe thing again lmao, everyone vibes when they ski no matter where they ski (otherwise why do you ski?).
Wish i got a chance to hit Holiday's woods lately, so much snow. I'm only talking about parks when i say peak is on another level.

Happy glades sucked still, but the trees between morning star and moon shadow were pretty good, just closer to the bottom had some heavy branch/root stuff going on
