Hello peoples,
I am looking at getting a pair of Gotamas and wontering if people that have them or have skied them could offer an opinion. I currently ski the 190cm v-pro and love Volkl as they make such a strong ski. I will be sking varied terrain here at club filds in New Zealand. How versitle are these skis?? Any comments welcomed. I can get a 183cm 2005 model cheap at the moment so I am not looking at any other skis cureently. I will be skiing every thing from steps and deeps and crud, ice, rocks, but no park on them.

never ridden them, but have only heard good things, and this years are beefed up from last year and are apprntly a little stiffer. Which is a good thing. If i where looking for a backcountry stick it would def be at the top of my list.

Cheers Kev. The only thing I am concerned about is the 105mm under foot is massive and they may only be good for straight lining! Does any body know what they turn like? Are they an all mountain ski, or just a powder ski?

i heard they rip all mtn, but i havent ridden them. i mite get a pair though, cuz they sound sick

dude the gotamas are pretty shit i had a week skiing on them and they are useless in the pipe in the park they are ok in the pow and have a gay backtip. search around my friend just got a sick voikl twintip they are like the BC scratch but they rip

I will not be skiing park or pipe on the gotamas if I get them, so if any body has them, how do they perform as an off piste ski, e.g. powder, crud, ice. They dont seem to have a huge side cut so what do they turn like??

your stupid. rating a big mountain skis based on its performance in the park?!? if you want park/pipe performance, get an appropriate ski.

i have this years 183, soo sick. they are not great on ice but heaven in pow, and they slice up anything off-piste can through at you (as long as you can handle them!). don't be turned away by the large waist width... i was worried they would be hard to turn, but they are completely manageable, and very stable! demo them if you want, i would be very surprised if you are dissapointed.

theyll be your best bet off-piste and in pow and crud, but they wont be the best on groomers, a 105 waist is a lil bit much for groomers. your v-pros are a better groomer ski

i have them but havent ridden them alot due to the lack of east coast pow...but the amount of pow ive ridden them in they r soo sick not the greatest on ice obviously but definately a sick ski, will probably use much more next year due to a trip to NZ and Vail

after skiing a fwe runs the 105 waist wont seem big.
Sidecut- dont worry about that because its not good in pow, but still has some sidecut so u can turn.

Next years also has a bit more sidecut than this years and is about 10% stiffer. Plus smaller tail so the running length isnt tiny like the current ones.

If your skiing clubbies you will love gots. Great skis. PS how u getting a deal?

Most of these guys are retarded.

Gotamas kill it. Pretty much everywhere except for pipe, park. Even on groomers, they have a very turnable sidecut, you can just run em downhill and they never ever get squirrely. In pow, they are great, and super floaty, and light and agile enough for tight trees and turns.

If you want an powder-oriented all mountain ski, get Gotamas.
