Mount Issue, how bad did the tech mess up

Well after getting home from the shop with my new freshly mounted skis, pumped as can be, I noticed something a little off with the heal of one of my bindings. There is a slight gap between one corner of the binding and the ski. My question to you guys is how bad will the be to fix, I just want to know what to expect when I go to the shop tomorrow?

the gap is also slightly larger then i appears in the pics

it looks like they just are not tightened enough but they could also be stripped and he couldn't get them all the way down because they wouldn't grab anymore and in that case you are going to look at having to get them re-drilled

The plate should sit flush, take em back.

I know that it should sit flush, but It won't need to be remounted or anything right? I just want to make sure this is just a small issue not a big one! It is getting fixed either way.

I dont think there is really enough info for it to be evaluated over the internet. Just take it to the shop and what happens happens.

Might need a remount depending on whats causing it. They'll have to back out and remove the heelpiece no matter what I'd assume.

It simply looks like the screw has not been done up enough, Its easy to do when mounting with a drill with a clucth. Somtimes the clucth kicks in before the screw is not fully in. Just Try doing the screw tighter. Press hard straight from above when turning so as not to strip the screw. If it does not turn then take it to teh shop they will be able to do it no problem.

Yeah... Id let the shop do it because if you do anything, they could say it's your fault and not fix it. Don't touch it so there is no doubt it's the shops fault

I would take it back and have them check it out, but if you can't do that, it's probably pretty safe to just hand tighten the screws in...

Most techs are usually pretty good at always checking to make sure the bindings are on flush, but sometimes, especially during the holidays - or those in their first year - just totally derp. I'll honestly say I've done it before and felt like a total idiot. it's a pretty easy fix however, so you should be okay.

Take them back to the shop, you'll probably end up stripping the holes they drilled if you do it yourself.

personally I'd find a new shop and pull and re-glue before trying to unfuck their fuck up on your own

this happens when you drill into the ski but then pull the bit back out. it spreads the topsheet material and causes it to bubble up around the hole. the proper procedure is to either spin the bit until the bladed collar grinds down the excess material around the hole or take a file and sand down so the top of the hole is flush with the topsheet

it's not a huge issue but they should've done it right and the plate should be flush with the ski, but taking the binding out and putting it back in the same holes after filing down that hole will do more damage than just leaving it like that. but go to your shop and get your money back

Just got back from the shop, the screw just wasn't tightened fully nothing serious thanks for all the help though.

And if worst comes to worst and they've completely destroyed your skis, you can probably get a brand new pair for free.

Thats what I was thinking also. Monitor the screw. If its striped,looks like its loosening they should replace the ski for you. Dont accept a remount under any circumstances. They will tell you they can remount up to 3 times but not from there mistake! Hope it holds for ya!! if all it was is the screw not tightened then you should be good.
