Those who have ridden them...
How do these two skis compare in terms of:
Pop
Flex pattern
Responsiveness
Control
Buttering
Ability to charge fast without the tips flopping around like pocket rockets
Expected life span
opus is man, i rode the hellbents last year and they wear floppy and everywhere, and heavy. the opus is light, quick, great float, responsive almost too responsive. def good but stiff flex. i haven't really got to ride the in the most epic of conditions yet. i have skied powder but nothing super blower
Pop, flex, butter= opus. go fast=chetler
Overall, I liked the opus way better, so I bought a pair.
The bases are fairly soft comPare to my on3p wrens though
Yeah dude, I've charged top speed down the crustiest groomers on the opus and haven't experienced anything close to chatter. It takes a little bit of lean to butter but once you lean past the flex threshold it's really easy. As far as the chets, I rode last years and loved em but they still don't feel as good as the opus. I have yet to ski this years chets do my next statement is real unfair, but I've heard they're kinda lifeless feeling. I wouldn't even mention it having not skied them but
Sorry. Mobile sucks and I got cut mid post. But anyway a good bud has the new chets and after riding my opus' he's a touch disappointed but that could be a preference thing. I've just heard "lifeless" a few times now. I may get a chance to ride my buds chets tomorrow if I can convince him to bring em out and I'll report back.
