Pockets Rockets or Seth Pistols?

Hey, I moved out to Montana this year for college and I want to invest in a pair of bigger skis. I can get a good deal on both pairs, but I'm not sure what to get. I've tried the Pocket Rockets and I liked them, but I haven't tried the seth pistols yet. I've heard that the PR's are a little to soft. Anyway, if anyone could help me out that would be great. I'm talking about 04/05 skis.
Thanks.

I must say I don't like the Pocket Rocket's. They don't hold an edge on hardpack, which shouldn't be a problem for you, but they are sluggish. Light as hell, but not a very fun ski to ride, and its not very stable at high speed. The Seth Pistol is a much better ski from what I hear, but I cannot comment on it's performance. The Pocket rockets just werent my tickets though, no fun unless only used in powder.

If you can get them, go the scratch BC, more versatile. But between the two you listed, go the seth pistol. Wont turn into spaghetti after a few weeks.
In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

seth pistol. i weigh 120 and even i thought the pocket rockets were too soft and unstable. and that was even before i snapped them in half landing into deep pow off nothing bigger than 20 feet. then they really felt floppy, because the tail was broken off. thank you, spaceframe!
my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

I've ridden the PRs hard and they have been great, back country, cliffs, park, rails what ever. The space frame has been great for me. the lite weight is a bonus for my size, 5 10 150lbs

^^Haha Bret, that was a good day...'hey dude, your ski isn't supposed to bend that way.' The best thing was that they are so soft you couldn't feel that they were broken in half until I told you and you looked down.

Jeff: Hey Geoff, did Ronny tell you not to wear any boxers so he could rape you better?
Geoff: No, I just put my boxers on backwards so the hole is in the back...it's alot easier that way.

broke my pr's on a 30 footer. heard the pistols are bunk. the lbf's top sheet shatter on landing switch. haven't heard anything about the rossies but the aussies like them. there supposed to make the pr's with a side wall this year like the trouble makers. keep ya posted. peace

I hear PR's are better in crud and hardpack and the pistols are better in the Deep stuff. I got the pocketrockets last season as my first fatty and I love em but Im pretty average skier so for someone real advanced they might not be as good.

yeah, pr's are stiffer at first, but break down after a hard season. pistols are shitty too tho, unless ur straight powder iwth them. too soft, and tho i haven't heard anyone break em, they make crackin noises when u flex them hard which made me nervous about buying them. i'd go wtih somethin else if u have the chance. bc's, 4frnt's, armadas, lines, anything really, they'll all be stiffer anyways and last longer

why dont u go for the pistols cause the pr's ahev the foam core for one thing and when it tried they were really unstable on the groomed stuff. I have tried the sp but they're supposedly better from wat i hear

I have the PRs and im abig guy, i weigh ~235 and i got em at the ed of last season, So far they are great and i havn't had a chance to try em in any power but they have great grip on hardpack and they're soso on ice.

^I can't imagine riding PRs at your weight. I weigh 170 and I maxed the 185s on my first big mountain line with them. Those things are flat out scary at high speed.

Idk wut to tell you, maybe they havn't 'broken in' as ive read they do, but i have not trouble carving nice big turns with em, Im still planning on selling them though...I dont really need em...but w/e i like em for freeskiing, but not so much for park typ stuff...which is why i ski scratches more often.
