Colorado state and U of U

I just got accepted to both school and I'm sure there are a bunch of NSer's who attend both schools so I'd like to know any positives/negatives/experiences from either school it'd be much appreciated!

fort collins is awesome, always ranked one of the top 10 places to live. csu parties hard, made the news in england for a party this year. just got bama's offensive coordinator as our new football coach. its like boulder but with better beer, better girls, and less hippies.

CSU is a joke and far as fuck from summit. CU is the place to be in colorado. And csu thinks they know how to party but they don't and it's not as good of an education as U of U and definitely doesn't come close to CU. U of U however i'd put on par with CU factoring in how they party the level of education and the vicinity of the mountains so i'd choose U of U if i were you. Also the girls there are sexier than csu's bitches.

I would be pretty surprised if you didn't get some financial aid from the U with those stats.

Can't comment on colorado but the U is honestly what you make it. It is mostly a commuter school which I guess kind of sucks (never bothered me though) but you'll get tight with the other skier kids pretty fast as long as you're not socially retarded and weird, especially if you live in the dorms the first year.

To me it always seemed like the two main demographics at the U were the skier/boarder kids and the mormons. The mormons never bothered me; actually, I think overall they're pretty damn nice and pleasant to be around. And I've had the time of my life with the skier kids. I will say that sometimes I get annoyed that many of my friends take it easy with partying during ski season, butttt I rage hard enough as it is so really I guess that's ok. The rest of the year is more fun in that regard though.

I'd give the financial aid office a call. The number should be on the U website. They'll be happy to help walk you through it and they can definitely give you more information than I can, since I didn't take any financial aid. Good luck!

Also, a lot of people at the U get in-state tuition, which is muuuuuchhh cheaper. I believe all you need to get that is a Utah driver's license and proof that you've lived there a certain amount of time. (So while it wouldn't help you for the first semester, it's still worth looking into as it is a significant price drop.)

Im only a sophomore in High School but I am planning on going to the U. What do you think about like 3.7 or 3.8 (all honors) with around a 26 to 29 on ACT?

op if you are looking for a place that is close to skiing, csu and cu arent even an option.

both about a 2 hour ride to summit give or take on traffic.

i can get to key in an hour and half, if there are not assholes or cops because i am going way over 65.

Plan test(pre ACT) and pre SAT. Also whole family works in edu and gpa was just an educated guess. Nothing wrong with planning ahead.

You just have to find and fill out the separate scholarship application and if you're applying for WUE like I am then you also have to send a memo that you want to apply for that as well. I might see you there cause so far the U is my top choice by far and the only thing that would stop me from going there is not getting any aid at all but I have a 4.11 gpa and 33 act so I feel like I've got a decent shot.

To OP, my brother is in his third year at CSU and absolutely loves it. I've been down there a few times to visit and it's great but I still prefer Utah by a long shot. It's just my preference.

I can get anywhere in summit in 1:45 to 2 hours. its hardly any longer than leaving from denver.

lol. wellyou do have some pretty fuckin good breweries, and less hippies but definitely have to disagree on the girls party..

and to whoever said it takes 2 hours to get to summit... you must be a shitty driver or have a really slow car. i can get to abasin/keystone in 1.25-1.5 hours. not a bad drive at all unless its snowing, which it then becomes a bitch. if u want extreme close proximity to skiing u of u is unbeatable (maybe montana state?). but for the best overall experience, look no further than cu ill guarantee you that.

every time i go up i put 30 bucks in gas in my truck, it takes about a half a tank back and forth.

No I can't go skiing everyday because I go to school everyday. Choose a school based on the education, not skiing. And every time I do go up, I get $10 in gas money from whoever I'm driving. I pay $10 myself at the most every trip.

CSU and U of U are both great schools. I know graduates from both schools and they are all intelligent people. I don't know much about U of U but I know my brother toured CSU and really liked it (he settled on Penn State though). Fort Collins is definitely a great place to live and be for college and beyond.

Seriously can't go wrong with either school. Good luck.

where do you go to school at?

i think you went to regis, doesnt that mean you could do better then cu? not to dis cu, but it seems like it is super easy to get in and everyone kid in colorado ends up going there.

I go to csu, and I went to regis. not everyone from regis goes to some prestigious school, about 65ish out of our class 150 went to either cu or csu.

like 3.95 (5th in class) and a 34 act, 36 superscore. I also got a merrill engineering fellowship (if youre an engineer) so I actually got payed $4000 dollars my first year to go to school

definitely not less hippies, just less trustafarian hippies. definitely more cowboys though.

CSU is further from skiing but an awesome place to go to school and live. i transferred as an upper classman so i don't often hear about parties, but it has a great music scene, great bar scene, great backcountry skiing access (Cameron Pass and Rocky Mtn National Park), is an hour from Denver and Boulder, and has a lot less of the NJ guidos and the SoCal Bros that have helped to ruin the atmosphere of BROulder. Oh, and out-of-staters all go to CU, be a little different and meet some new people at a new school. Whenever I go down to Boulder, it's like a HS reunion and I'm from the Bay Area.

University of Utah! Snowbird, Alta, PC, Solitude, Brighton, and Canyons 30 minutes away from campus. I am pretty sure the mountains from CU Boulder are more than an hour.

Hmm well then I guess I'll definitely be applying for the honors college. The new honors housing just looked so enticing but I wasn't completely convinced that I wanted to do the honors courses. Have you heard much about how the specific honors courses are?
