Hedgehogs?

Anyone here ever owned a hedgehog or heard any insight regarding ownership of one?  My GF is dead-set on getting one and i agreed, she wanted a rat a few months ago and i said hell no to that, thought that a hedgehog is cooler.  so yeah just wondering if anyone owns one that could give a heads up.

never seen one running around outside ever.  im pretty sure theyre legal here in mn they sell em at pet stores all over

o yeah they cost like 2 hundred bucks for one and you have to take them to a special vet that cost a ton of money theyy are a waste of money

They're like rats in the sense that they're little tumor factories. Don't be surprised if it ends up dying from that. Also, sometimes they just choose people to like/not like for no apparent reason; if they like you, they can be pretty cool pets. If not, they can still be cool if you get some thick gloves. Handling them a ton when they are young will help.

ive asked for a hedgehog for the past 3 years in a row, and ive done some research on it. They are a great pet for some really strong reasons.
1. they dont shed
2.they dont require alot of space
3. they dont require a whole lot of care
4. they are nocturnal so you dont have to worry about them during the day
5. they can be potty trained
6. they only live about 5 years so you arent making a really long term commitment
