I Need to Find My Type of Skiing

Well Newschoolers, I'm just wondering If you guys could help me out here.
Obviously I love skiing and ski everyday that I can. I've been skiing every season since I was 3. I live over on the Ice coast and am having trouble trying to find what my niche is in skiing.

I had my park years, I wasn't very good, but I was good enough to throw some ugly 5's and just floaty 3's. I mean, I've landed a frontflip once before too. It was hucked but I landed it.

I've talked a lot on this site about the several concussions that I've gotten and how I really can't huck tricks and progress in the park anymore.

I can shred groomers but even the mountains "toughest" runs over on the east coast are not too hard anymore.

Just wondering where do I go from here? Obviously I'll keep skiing everyday and shredding up anything that I can. Since I have to leave park behind and move on, what should I do?
There's Not really too many "backcountry" runs to ski over here either.

Do you guys have any ideas? I'll be applying to colleges soon, so maybe somewhere out west will except me and I can try my hand at some backcountry steeps, and cliffs. Other than that what can I do?

look at garret russel he skis just to have fun and consequently he is good  but if you follow his example he doesnt go fast and he doesnt go huge he just enjoys the opprotunity

find a pair of stiffer, all-mt. twins, tune them, and mount them sightly back from center, say -2. I ride a pair of '07 volkl bridges now and again as a stiffer all-mt. ski and I enjoy them. Blast through crud, still can cruise switch, not crazy heavy, but definitely just a beefy ski. A ski similar to that sounds perfect for what you want and your size.

Don't hate on this, but maybe try snowboarding. Don't get me wrong, I'm a skier and I would never really switch over, but I switched with my friend cuz he wanted to try my skis. It's a completely different experience, and it's fun to learn somethin new. Crazy learning curve and it's nuts tryin 2 stay out of peoples way

acctually my friend Colorado and the rockies have the highest avalanche danger. Lightest snow = highest danger

Absolutely, it's much easier on the body and a different game entirely in the POW/Backcountry.  Come on over to Montana we still got plenty of room.

the further up north, the better the terrain if you ask me but it can get quite expensive but here are some suggestions anyways:
bigger mountains with glades and such:
1. jay peak is supposedly epic and like the west when they get proper snow. also smugs is supposed to be pretty great, never been to either tho
2. on the same train of thought, grew up skiing at sugarloaf which is a pretty awesome spot. they've been putting some great parks the past few years if you wanted to steeze out ur bag of tricks. also, as far as steeps and bumps, they got some of the best if you ask me and theres a ton of great secret stashes in glades (as far as the east is concerned). also, theyve started a big expansion project onto the neighboring burnt mountain, and a bunch of the "secret" out of bounds glades have been put in bounds in "bracket basin" the first phase, which is now open with 655 new acres of basically true back country skiing, but probably not great snow until feb/march/april (or ever again given the poor state of ec snow right now, hopefully things will pick up)
3. Stowe, similarly has a bit of everything. Great parks, tons of groomers and steeps, and lots of fun glades. Also plenty opportunity for ec bc and skinning around, never done it but a few of my friends are really interesting.
Theres probably other mountains with similarly awesome situations. Unfortunately given the state of resorts and the ski industry right now, and seeing as money is definitely an issue, if your saving up you honestly might as well save up for the west. Furthermore, if you want to go out west, being a ski bum is not a terrible idea. Most mountains have job fairs in the fall and if you could find a cheap house/apartment in the area and some friends to go in on it with you could probably get enough to live/ski fairly easily

If you want to get involved with something skiing talk to the instructors and become a ski instructor? Costs 400 bucks or so for the level one. Then you can ski free!!!! any were you go. You'll spend time perfecting technical skiing and that will give you a niche? It can only help you ski  what ever you want to ski. It gives you something to do and think about if you cant decide what your style is also. Its a win win. You have to be 15 in Canada to get your level 1. Any dummy can get the level one. Talk to the instructors at lunch time in the lodge they are always more than happy to take someone on.

  Who knows maybe youll become a Level 3 and be the mags testing out all the cool new next year skis before anyone else does!! ALL the ski testers are instructors in the mags. Just a thought. it sounds like your board and need something to do constructive to stay happy on the slopes?

 Also agree with some of the fun shaped skis for getting every inch of terrain playing around on. Having a ski buddy is great also. You push each other. It gets borring by your self. Another reason instructors like doing that. They are always in groups and have fun.
