Remove fisheyeon Gopro hd

hey everyone, quick question

i want to make a movie, not a ski movie or anything just like a low/zero budget movie with some kids at my school, i want to use my go pro for most of it as i dont want to go buy a new camera

anyways, getting to my question... it there any way to change the lens on a go pro so its less of a wide angle shot?

any help is good!

If you shoot in 1080 you will have a smaller angle of 137 degrees instead of the170 degrees at 720p. However, there is little to be done to remove the "fisheye" effect.

yea, i realized that when i was testing it out, i wish it had a smaller angle lens somehow, i get why its wide angle and i makes perfect sence as its being used primarily for action sports and "outdoorzy" stuff where you want to be able to see as much as you can, but im sitll annoyed. I may go use a flip cam or something.

one thing you could try is film it in 1080p and then crop a lil off the top and sides either maintaining the aspect ratio or off the top to give it the "widescreen" look. with 1080p it shouldn't look bad if you do it off the top and bottom a little, i've messed with that before and just remember the sound on those is really shitty so either film outside the case or use somethin else for audio. my suggestions anyway

I think you can actually do something to switch the lens on it.

Maybe you could do something in post, I remember nikon had a program that could take the fIsheye effect off there 10.5 fish, just a thought

720 & 1080 are the same aspect ratio so you will have the same fisheye effect. 960 is 4x3 opposed to the 16x9 of the other formats so it will be wider (more room on top & bottom.) Taking the camera out of the case will give you less distortion. I have seen examples of people removing the stock lens and replacing it with some similar sized ccd lenses to get a more normal FOV for ariel photography (rc helis) but those are really ghetto rigged and would not work with the case, or the vibrations/movement that you would get during normal gopro usage.

...And a simple google search for "gopro new lens" will give you several good results on places the sell new lenses and show you how to replace them all on the first page of results. Is google really that hard to use when you have a question?

the eye of mine housing won't help much above water, It's just for correcting the distortion of the fisheye port underwater. If anyone is interested in something like this though, the snake river prototypes housing has a better lens.
