The car is basically stripped to bare metal, bondo work done. Just needs to be primed and painted. Only the outside too, I didn't gut it and take the motor out or anything. No fancy colors, prob just black. Any idea how much this would cost? 2k?
Don't do it by yourself unless you've done it before or know what you're doing, you're just gonna waste your time and money. But yeah anywhere from 800-1200 I'd say
i work at a body shop and this is what your going to run into if you do it yourself. its going to look like SHIT. If it doesnt need to be perfect give it a shot. PM me and ill walk you through the steps to minimize dirt. If you want to pay a shop you will get 5 prices if you take it to 5 shops. Be very clear with your expectations. if you think the body work is perfect tell them you only want them to spray it. Most of the shops probably wont do it tho bc they wont want to stand behind the paint bc they didnt do the body work. also if you paint it black and you arent excellent at body work YOU WILL SEE ALL OF YOUR REPAIR AREAS. I would choose a lighter silver or possibly white. The lighter colors hide the body work best. If you are set on having someone do a good job let them finish your body work. Chances are it needs to be reworked a little and primed and blocked at least once(at least).that being said if its all apart like no handles on it no interior door panels emblems bodyside moldings or lights in the car i would guess 1500-2000 to have it final prepped and blocked then painted. Just remember in this business you will get exactly what you pay for. if you want it done cheap and black be ready for an orange peely body work ringed out turd with fish eyes everywhere. you could prolly get that for aroun700-1000 if you want it all blocked again and primed and done right...1500-2000 depending on where you live and the average labor rates. They change based on where you live. I hope this helps and im not trying to offend you by saying your body work is going to look shitty, but honestly it will, especially if you spray it a dark color.
You could do what I did and buy like 4 cans of brown rustoleum primer, costed like a hundred bucks for all the tape, sandpaper, primer and paint. Couldn't paint it before winter though so I left it primer brown. Looked like a piece of shit but I thought it was pretty badass. I also ground the paint off my hood and left it just metal/rust.
you're ignorant. It's not easy at all. If you have ANY dirt on your car when you paint its gonna come out looking shitty. Dont be cheap, take it to a body/paint shop, get it done right.
i just primered my truck for 30 bucks. did all the body work myself. gonna spray it off qith me gun on the sping total cost for matte balck paintjob will be about 80 bucks.
It's not rocket science but it's an art it takes a lot of practice, it's easy to make a whole job look like shit just going too heavy in one place, or spraying a piece of trim on accident, I was just saying its better to get it don't professionally especially if you're just planning on like doing it outside or in a garage cause you're probably just gonna waste your time
How am I ignorant? Have you painted a car? Notice how the post before I said "make sure you create an absolutely dust-free environment"
If you want an absolute showroom quality paintjob, then no you are not going to be able to get that your first time. If you want a normal, decent looking paint job (like the basic paint-job you would get at a bodyshop) you can easily do it yourself.
