Binding pulled out

So last night, first night out on the hill about 5 runs in (really small hill) my ski releases on a switch landing. i hike back up fully expecting another broken brake, but it was worse. The brake itself didn't break, it actually lifted the front two screws out of the heal piece right out of the ski. the binding mounting bracket is a tad bent, straighten it or try and get parts or buy new bindings?

This is kinda a multi question thread, first off, how does one go about getting my binding put back on with the holes being stripped out?

secondly, what am i doing wrong that im breaking so many breaks?

thirdly, does anyone cut their breaks shorter so only 3/4 to an 1 sticks down when the ski releases?(im thinking i might do this and see how it works)

Two options for repair, the first is helicoils, I wouldn't do this with a park ski, cause most likely you'll just rip those out too. The second is remount, most bindings with a track (basically anything other than FKS/Pivots), you can remount just the heel about 1cm forward or backwards depending on the location of the heelpiece on the track, then adjust the forward pressure so you don't have to remount the toe piece or change your mounting point.

As far as breaking brakes, it happens with bindings, they aren't meant to release backwards so the leverage of the brake pull up on the binding. Also, there are certain bindings that are very prone to brakes coming off (Marker M/M Free series, Look/Dynastar PX series, Rossi Axial2 series are particularly bad with keeping brakes in place).

As far as cutting the brake, it won't do a thing, if anything it'll add more of a leverage point to the brake which will cause more brake failure.

alright thanks for the input. I guess I'll bring It into a shop sometime next week. its shitty cause the only shop that is rosi certified is an hour and a half away. luckily I got another set till then. and you really don't think cutting them will help at all?

i wouldn't tamper with the brakes if i were you .....

i'd go for a helicoil, if they aren't completely stripped, and see how that goes ....

or as mentioned bump the heelpiece track forward or backward a cm ...

i've had a heelpiece rip out as well, got brass inserts, ripped those out as well, then took a dremel tool and basically carved an upside down mushroom-shaped hole out of the ripped out mounting holes, then epoxied the living shit out of it and put the brass inserts back in...
2years later and the ski is still solid ! :)

I pulled my heel plate of my PX18s out of my New Lifes (First day on Saturday), turns out it was a faulty mount. Screws weren't fully tightened and in, along with threads not glued/locked.

I got it helicoiled. Simple fix. Hope it doesn't happen again, I'm pretty upset with the shop.

I'd be pissed at that. When you're mounting a binding like that you know it's gonna take a beating. When we mounted my FKS180's we drilled the holes the smallest size possible, tapped the holes first so they would be super clean and then used loads of glue. If they ever pull out I expect they'll pull big chunks of the core out with them.
