Review: 2011-2012 MOMENT Reno Jib, 176cm

There are a few threads around here about the Reno Jib already, but don't hesitate to give the BLISTER review a read...it puts the Jib's burly and stable characteristics in a bit more perspective to lighter skis.

The only problem I personally find with the review is that he only put 3 days on the skis, which in my mind isn't enough to make a full review. Also, he mounted symmetrical skis 1 cm from true centre, so that may or may not have a different effect.

^ mine have been used for almost 4 seasons now, and only one edge crack and topsheet chipping, still in great condition actually

He's established a bit of a reputation for talking about MOMENTS as poorly constructed skis, without giving any real, useful information as to why his single experience with a pair can be expanded to such general statements.

I'd appreciate it if we could keep discussion about MOMENT as a brand off this thread, and keep the topic on the Reno Jib in particular - with only relevant and truly useful information

my friends moment topsheet peeled off all the way from the tail to the binding after 1 season..And his from this year have seperating base and more top sheet peeling after 2 weeks approx of riding.

And before the "friend" Thing comes up where it makes my statment not legit. I live with this kid and ski with him everyday.

I mount my skis at -1 cm out of personal preference - that's how I've mounted every park ski i've ridden for the last five years.

I wrote the review and was working within a time constraint to test the ski. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about the ski itself (except durability issues)

I won't lie, it read a bit like a Rossi Scratch advert... but I have heard others say it isn't as poppy as some other skis.

While everyone is reading these threads, take note of me not being the only one having issues with moments breaking, there are other people who talk about skis breaking as well.
Also note that i do talk about my experience with moment, saying how after their skis broke after 4 months, and how i then had to spend a considerable amount of time waiting for them to "fix" my skis which broke the first fun i had them back. On top of that it was not a single experience, it was a few, so i am not generalizing.

This discussion is about the reno jib, so i can say that mine jibs were built shitty, and people have the right to an honest review of the ski. It is both relevant and useful.

I did not mistreat my skis. I did nothing more with them than i did with any other pairs of skis. In fact i did less due to an injured knee, And they made it through not even half a season. My other skis, however, have been put through the same amount of pressure, abuse, whatever, and they have yet to break. My base and edges snapped while i dropped a 10 foot cliff. It doesn't matter if "that's bound to happen". Its still shitty quality and if its gonna happen with any brand, why hasn't it with any other skis?

Since i am not the only one having problems with moment, I am neither generalizing, nor am i just hating on moment. I am simply bringing to peoples attention that many people, as well as I, have had problems with moment, and they should take that into consideration so they don't end up like me and waste money.

Respectable opinion, but I have been thread hunting and it seems to me that there aren't too many issues with the jibs. I have a pair of 09's and they have 3 edge cracks total. That's it. You're going to have problems with skis no matter what the brand. Take for instance A-bangs. There are issues with them but they also have some great a-bangs out there and some people live by them. Same with 4frnts. And K2's. and Surfaces. And Rossi's. Need I continue?

The point of the thread is not to bag on moment's or to give personal opinion (Though insightful)
It is to show people a review written by a well respected review site. Please limit it to that.

If you have issues with Moment's (or any other skis for that matter) Maybe it is best to post a thread about your issues elsewhere??
