I think i got some old tripod in my house. Just got the CANNON T3I. Think ill be good skiing this season with a tripod in park? Just make it a long pole, and ski with it?
I've been skiing with a tripod as a 'steadicam', hahaha, and it's actually working out decently well. Granted it's not even close to what you could get with a steadicam but it's much better than hand held. I ski with the strap around my neck (using a broken ball head) and even if your head isn't broken, I'd recommend it. Also my legs are carbon fiber so it's super easy to ski with, regular legs might get a bit heavy after a while.
At first I though you meant like poles...but I gotcha. If you're not worried about it getting broken, it won't work like a glidecam will. It getting broken is a very real possibility though, my friend broke my current tripods handle on the first day we used it.
You mean like a monopod? Those are useless for video...
Using a collapsed tripod as a "steadycam" will make your footage marginally better. It's no better than holding the camera regular and anchoring your elbow against your stomach though, so the effect will be barely noticeable.
Just use the tripod normally. It isn't hard to carry one around.
