Who else makes $15 / hr?

I'm college educated person and in a job in which I use my degree. And I'm only getting paid $15 an hour. Janitors at McDonalds start at 10, so I want to know what kinds of shitty jobs are equivalent so I can gage how hard I work vs. how hard I should be working for such shitty pay.

made $15/hr working some construction over the summer. had to quit to come to college, i miss the money. but i used to ref hockey games as well and got paid $25 to $40 a game depending on the level.

Dude you jumped the gun it seems like. If you had zero internship experience, then I guess its ok for like a few months, but you should be making at least 25 out of college.

I made $14 an hour at my summer internship which was cool

i make $8.50 an hour at a grocery store. there aren't many stable jobs at 17 in which you get paid well.

i got lucky as fuck over the summer, got a job at a juvenile home life guarding for the school and the recreational center there. Both payed 22 bucks an hour(worked 30 + hours a week) and all i had to do was keep the area safe. If the kids didn't listen to me, the staff gets involved. They want me back next summer too. Kids are assholes but whogivesafuckwhenugettinmoney

I make 24.50/ hour, work 77 hours a week so 37 are over time (1.5x) so I make pretty good bank. I'm only a 3rd year industrial electrician, journeyman are making $39/hr right now

Funny this thread came up, i was talking wit ha friend earlier about this. I make 41.84 an hour as a groundmen for a tree care company in MA and we do a lot of state or municipal work so we get Prevailing wage which in my given area is 41.84.

This past summer i live in western ma where the tornado happened and yes it did hit my house and was affected greatly but for what happened i was able to bank up 25 thousand dollars in 3 and a half months literally working around the clock 85-110 hour work weeks...i go to college still so makeing that kind of money really helps.

im studying forestry and i will never see that kind of money when i get a real job.

I'm 21, and make 7.75 an hour working at the greatest place in the world, the National Baseball Hall of Fame!

I also substitute teach, and make 110 a day, for a 6 and a half hour day, and I enjoy doing that

i work at rye airfield skatepark. i make minimum wage (7.50) and work jack shit (less than 20 hour weeks). it is a fun job and i dont really have to take it seriously, so i guess its fine for now.

Forestry is a great career if you get into the right job. Before moving to my current job I worked for a private equity firm that specialized in forestry, there is a strong trend away from securities and fiat currency denominated products towards real producing assets like timber.

Its a good place to be.

i really enjoy forestry but like you said if you find the right job its a good career and i could stay with the job i have over the summers making that great money but there is no where to advance and you have absolutely no life, and you work so fucking hard.

and with that equity firm you mentioned what did you end up doing. because allot of people in forestry i know are consulting foresters which doesn't thrill me as a job. but im young in college and just don't know what i want to do when i leave

When I was in high school, this kid tried arguing with me that his dad, who fixed copy machines, made more than my dad, who is an attorney. It doesn't depend where you live. Attorneys make more than copy machine attendants.......

Thanks for everyone's response, they have all been VERY informative. I laughed every time someone posted something like "Do really well on your first big project and ask for a raise" because I've done many big projects and have been at this place for over a year!

You have all given me the kick in the ass that i needed to get my butt in gear and seriously pursue other options.

I can't WAIT to hand in my two weeks notice and leave with my middle finger up!

It's quite possible that this thread has changed my life.

Working 40 hours a week at $10/hr doing a 6 month internship at a sports tv station. A guy that I oftentimes work with gets paid $1,000 a day operating a high speed camera for various clients...jealousy is an understatement

the one i work at is in a pretty upscale neighborhood. so people have the money to blow to come in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. same people..all. the. time. panera has a cult following where i live, no doubt about it.

still delicious after 2 years, i have yet to get sick of the food!

i was 14 this summer and i worked at a diner and made like 9.25 dollars CAD an hour, and i worked like 7 hours a day which is like almost 70 bucks plus liike 15 in tips, whre do you live?

isnt that like against the law? you have to be getting payed minimum wage

Damn man you're getting fuckin' screwed over. I worked on a construction site five days a week all summer at $12 an hour, but it was just a summer job. Not too bad though since I'm still in highschool. Hopefully you find something better.

in the states if you work as a waitress/waiter you can get paid under minimum wage if you make like a certain amount in tips (because tips arent taxed)
