Replying to Salt Lake City

I'm starting to consider where I want to do an exchange at through the National Student Exchange the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. I'm considering going to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

What are some of the Pros and Cons of living in Salt Lake City?

Besides the ridiculous skiing at Alta and Park City, I've heard the music scene is pretty good. What else do people know of the city? (cost of living, crime?, weird mormon laws, etc.)
