Replying to Place to stay at Jay

A group of my friends and I (7-8 ppl) are looking to ski Jay this year the first week of January. Our budget is pretty minimum so we've been looking on craiglist and such for some cheap lodging in the area, but most everything is already booked or pretty expensive.

My question is if anyone knows of a spot where we can just camp out in the area, short of just parking on the roadside and hiking into the woods (although this might be an option). I checked the local state and private parks and everything within a reasonable distance is closed for the winter. Also any reasonably cheap lodging in the area (under $1000 total for the week) that anyone knows of would be awesome. Thanks!
