MIT has made a camera which will capture over a trillion frames a second. Actually capturing photons traveling through the air.

Its not actually very useful. But its pretty damn cool.


Brain Farm bought one for next years movie. Rumor has it, the entire thing will be a 4 second segment of travis rice slanging his dick on top of a line in AK

Yeah, you would literally have to watch the screen for hours just to see him move a couple inches.

Conformed down to 2000fps would be pretty sweet. But again, this camera has no real practical use. Its just really amazing to me that you can actually watch photons move.

wait hold on, i think we are on different pages.

Mr. Heath said that T-Hall hitting Chad's at a trillion fps would move slower than clouds, but clouds move at usually around 60-80 miles per hour.

everyone saying that this has no use other than looking at photons move is being closed minded and ignoring that things like this give rise to other inventions/applications that we dont see now. its like saying "oh cool you discovered electricity, well literally all you can do with it is watch sparks shoot between two balls"

Slow down to 24 fps on computer

1 second of footage now takes 11500 hours to watch

He would move so slowly that it would be like watching a cloud move across the sky, not the actual speed of the cloud



And I don't understand how that would actually work, the intensity of light needed would have to ridiculous to actually see anything.

I'm saying its a bad comparison, its actually fairly often that you can watch clouds and see them moving pretty quickly with not trouble at all.


Now, comparing it to watching the sun move would be better.

They use a laser that sends short high intensity bursts infront of the camera. Thats how they see the photons move.
