HVX-200 and FCP7 workflow problems...

hey M&A...so im doing this video for a friend for finals this week and am havin a few minor issues. i recorded everything in 1080i24p on the hvx-200 and after the first night of shooting realized i should be shooting at 720p but didn't change it cuz i thought it wouldn't be a huge hassle and everything was at night in low light so i figured more light with the 1080i.....

well now its all interlaced and that is annoying as hell but can fix that at the end, but my real issue is when i transfer everything into fcp7 it comes in as 29.97 fps and not 24? i've tried removing advanced pull down in the preferences and what not too but that doesn't work. so just wondering if anyone has had problems like this before or if im just being a noob about the whole thing or if i should just not worry about it and make the vid and try and export it clean?

First of all, the 1080 24pa is not interlaced. You can't shoot 1080i24 that doesn't make sense. The hvx should be taking the interlaced 1080i60 shot and turning it into 1080p24. I shot multiple times with 1080p24 and had no such problems that you are having.

What are your sequence settings? do you have a clip you could upload that we could check out? and you can export any fps you want, if your sequence is indeed 1080p24 dvcproHD then it should come out 24 when you export.

yeah thats what i thought and thats why i was gonna use 1080 24p in the first place. this is the first time i've had a problem like this...is there a chance that the scene file or whatever could have been switched to something different like the "tv mode" or "film cam" or somethin...forgot exactly where it is and what its called but its in the menu under record setup or one of those ones

and ill work on uploading a clip. in fcp7 all the files have a frame size of 1280x1080, 29.97 fps and the compressor says DVCPRO HD 1080p30..but i swear i was shooting at 1080p24

Well, you shot 1080p30.... if thats what the clips say. Even though they say 1280x1080, the actually frame size is 1920x1080, its just how the hvx and dvcprohd files are sampled/pixel shifted. Did you by chance shoot 24 frames but in 30p mode?

that could have been the problem now that i think of it.. i thought i changed the record mode but maybe it was what you were saying. cuz fcp doesn't lie when the clips are in i know from past projects. well shit. thanks tho. next time ill be sure to make sure everything is how i need it to be the first time.
