FKS Toe help!

So I just got my FKS 155 mounted to my new skis over the weekend at snowshoe. The tech at the shop told me that the toes were not working properly and released like a 12 din even when it was set to an 8 and that it wasn’t a good idea to ride them, so I didn’t. Now I’m wondering what I should do… should I ride them anyway or does anyone know what the problem or how to fix it? Or should I just get new toes?

get new bindings/toes. Bindings already ruin peoples knees when they are functioning properly, so imagine what is gonna happen if you run them with inconsistent releasing.

Well, first I would check to see if they're under warranty.

If not, then you will probably want to replace them. I actually have 1 spare if you would like to buy it. Hit me up if interested.

Now i have never worked in a shop and have never heard of this happening but i would guess that the shop would be able to put a new spring n to fix it. If that isnt the problem I would guess that there is gunk in the binding and that it could be taken out. I would talk to the guy at the shop about something like that if it is cheeper than buying a new toepiece

thats what i was thinking, but he told me he didnt know how to. also can i remount different toes in the same holes or will i have to drill new holes?

go to a different shop if they cant replace the spring. you can use the old holes as long as you did not strip the threads for the screw.

i could have cleaned them, i only came into mount them though, since we aren't a rossi dealer anymore, there is only one other person who is rossi certified, that was the older guy with the gray hair you saw. i only came in to mount them up and set the forward pressure, since i have a rossi cert. i mounted them an hour before we closed, and was off the next day..

if you wanna hold out i can look to re-grease everything next time you are up, though the heel was very well lubed when i set the forward pressure, which let me to believe that the bindings had been purchased used, but serviced recently. i got dow 33 lube all over my hands when adjusting the heel...

yea, man its all good. im not blaming you, i wanna be clear about that. get mounting job, jutst a broken toe piece. i just want to find a cheaper way to get them working. and yea i got lube all over my hands too when i was bending the brakes. i'll just go to my local shop (not 4 hours away like snowshoe) and see what they can do or i'll just find some new ones.

best of luck to you, what i would try is get a high pressure compressor, and try to blow them out, use the air to blow the dirt and gunk out... worth a shot, the toe might not need to be relubed just blown out

Do these have the 1-piece pivoting toe the same as the 18-din bindings or the winged toe like the 12/14-din Looks?

If they have the 1-piece, they've probably been put away wet and the ball/cam/lobe thing that the whole toe pivots on (whatever you want to call it) is dirty/sticking/rusty/needs lubed.

I've never pulled one of these apart myself but I thiiiiink if you very, very carefully back the DIN screw out all the way the whole thing will come apart. Clean everything, grease it all with that white goopy goodness, put it back together, re-test. While you're in there you can check the condition of the spring, but springs generally get softer, not harder, which makes me think it's sticking on something.
